What kind of game is this? Pax Dei is a social sandbox MMORPG that focuses strongly on gathering resources, building items and buildings, and trading goods. Entire villages, towns, and fortresses can emerge from individual lots.
In addition, there are dungeons that can be raided by groups with tanks, healers, and damage dealers, but also areas where PvP is active around the clock. It’s up to you which aspect of the game you focus on.

That’s why I believe Pax Dei could be a highlight of 2025: Both after the alpha and after the early access launch, my assessments were quite negative.

However, the truth also includes that the MMO, thanks to its great graphics and the powerful building editor, has a strong foundation that the developers have been building on for some months now.
For example, in December 2024, the market and gold economy systems finally entered the game, with gold coins as the currency for trading. The grace feature, which serves as a resource for performing miracles, is set to follow shortly.
The early access is supposed to last at least until June 2025. By the time of the final launch, there should be further noticeable improvements for aspects like the combat system, terrain, biomes, crafting, PvE challenges, UI, camera, and much more. And then Pax Dei could indeed be much more than a beautiful but rather lifeless medieval backdrop.
