World of Warcraft: Shadowlands brings back the most powerful items in the game: Legendaries. With the current patch 9.2, you can now wear a second legendary item at the same time. MeinMMO tells you which Legendary is best suited for which class.
What are Legendaries? Legendary equipment items have special properties that can improve your abilities or even change your playstyle. Legendaries are the strongest items in the game.
In Legion, you had to rely on luck to get the right Legendary for your specialization. In Shadowlands, you can create them easily with the properties you want.
However, the crafting process is very complex, and upgrading Legendaries takes even longer. With Patch 9.2 “The End of Eternity”, the system has changed slightly again.
Update from February 28, 2022: Patch 9.2 went live on February 23 and introduces the ability to wear a second legendary item. However, this is only possible after completing the campaign in the new area of Zereth Mortis.
Our recommendations always refer to the Legendary that you can wear in addition to “Unity”!
The second Legendary is the pure “Covenant Legendary”, that is, the legendary effect that strengthens your respective Covenant ability. After unlocking the “Unity” effect, you can build the Legendary in any slot, and it changes with your Covenant. In our guide, you can read which Covenant is best for your class.
We have consulted with experts from wowhead, Icy Veins, and the individual class Discords to compile a list of the best Legendaries for each class and specialization, including locations where you can find the ability (via wowhead.com and icy-veins.com)
Changes to Legendaries in Patch 9.2
- The new maximum level for Legendaries is now 7 (previously 6)
- To upgrade, you need 2,000 Cosmic Flux and the corresponding item at level 7
- You receive a base item by crafting a recipe for level 4 with the new “Rudiment of Eternity” – The recipe is available in the Zereth Mortis campaign
- Torghast has a new wing, the Gauntlet, where you can find the new material Cosmic Flux
From previous changes, you can farm the necessary materials for lower ranks (Soul Ash and Soul Cinders) endlessly in Torghast and even send them to Twinks. Moreover, already crafted Legendaries can be disassembled by the Rune Trader in Torghast.

Vengeance
- Name: Gaze of the Darkmoon
- Effect: “Eye Beam” has a 40% chance not to trigger a cooldown and refunds 30 Fury.
- Equipment slot: Waist, Neck (recommended)
- Location: Baroness Stradama (Plaguefall)
- Alternative: Fiery Soul against magical damage or Razelikh’s Defilement as a DPS option
Devastation
- Name: Gaze of the Darkmoon
- Effect: “Demonic Devastation” has a 40% chance not to trigger a cooldown and refunds 50 Fury.
- Equipment slot: Waist, Neck (recommended)
- Location: Baroness Stradama (Plaguefall)
- Alternative: Collective Torment or Burning Wounds for AoE damage and Mythic+

- Name: Ancient Arcane Pulsar
- Effect: For every 300 Astral Power consumed, you gain “Celestial Alignment” for 12 seconds.

Guardian
- Name: Legacy of the Sleeper
- Effect: In bear form, “Berserk” increases your damage by 25%, your leech by 15%, and makes you immune to control loss effects. The cooldown of the ability is reduced by 30 sec.
- Equipment slot: Waist, Feet (recommended)
- Location: Mort’regar, Level 3 and higher (Torghast)
- Alternatives: Remembrance of Ursoc’s Fury as a mix of offensive and defensive
Restoration
- Name: Vision of Endless Growth
- Effect: Healing from “Rejuvenation” has a 2.5% chance to affect another nearby target with “Rejuvenation”
- Equipment slot: Head, Legs, Feet (recommended, but watch your tier set bonus)
- Location: Fractured Chambers, Level 3 or higher (Torghast)

Feral
- Name: Band of Fury
- Effect: Abilities that generate combo points reduce the cooldown of “Incarnation: King of the Jungle”/”Berserk” by 0.3 seconds. While “Incarnation: King of the Jungle”/”Berserk” is active, they deal an additional 150% of their damage over 8 seconds as bleed damage.

- Effect: When you gain the “Masterful Shots” effect, you have a 50% chance to refund a charge of “Aimed Shot” and your next use of “Aimed Shot” costs no focus.

Survival
- Name: Wildfire Bomb

Fire
- Name: Blessing of the Sun King

Mistweaver
- Name: Ancient Teachings of the Monastery
- Effect: After using “Essence Font”, your abilities “Tiger Palm”, “Blackout Kick”, and “Rising Sun Kick” heal an injured ally within 20 meters for 250% of the damage dealt. Lasts for 15 seconds.

Holy
- Name: Maraad’s Last Breath
- Effect: “Light of Dawn” increases the healing of your next “Light of the Martyr” by 10% for each healed ally and causes this cast to also heal your “Flame of Faith”. You take the damage of “Light of the Martyr” over 5 seconds instead of instantly.
- Equipment slot: Chest, Finger (recommended)

Protection
- Name: The Mad Paragon

Crafting Legendaries – Quick Guide
How to craft Legendaries: We have a detailed guide on how to craft Legendaries ready for you. Here’s the short version. If you want to craft Legendaries, you need some materials:
- a legendary base armor from crafting professions
- Soul Ash from Torghast or from adventures from the Mission Table
- Soul Cinders can be obtained in Torghast starting from level 9 (new with Patch 9.1)
- You can get Cosmic Flux in Torghast, the Gauntlet, and also from rare enemies, chests, and the campaign in Zereth Mortis
- Scrolls for secondary stats
- the corresponding memory for the Rune Trader
The base items must be crafted by Blacksmiths, Leatherworkers, Tailors, or Jewelers. You can find more about this in our detailed professions guide for Shadowlands on MeinMMO.
Where do I get the effects? The memories are obtained through specific activities. We have added the corresponding source directly to the individual Legendaries. You must bring the memory to the Rune Trader in Torghast. From then on, you have it permanently.
