McGee
Even longer than the long-standing main character and team lead Gibbs is only one character: Timothy Tim
McGee. With a total of 472 episodes, he is the character most involved in the series. His story, however, is far from over:
On October 14, 2025, new episodes of Navy CIS will premiere in the USA, and actor Sean Murray will be back as McGee. His episode count will therefore continue to grow.
Tim makes his first appearance in the seventh episode of Season 1. He only becomes a permanent part of the series in Season 2. At the beginning, he is the junior field agent in Gibbs’ team and is often tasked by the senior colleagues Tony and Kate with thankless assignments. For example, he is the one looking for evidence in a nettle bush.
In his free time, he is an author and writes a book series under the title Deep Six. Many of his characters are based on his colleagues. This is partly why he publishes under the pseudonym Thom E. Gemcity.
In the more recent seasons, McGee has come a long way: he is now a senior field agent and even briefly took over the position of acting director of the NCIS. Of the original Team Gibbs
, with which the series began in 2003, he is the only still active member.
