A user has a strange problem. When he turns on the shower, his monitor goes black. This annoys him because every time someone showers, he is left without a monitor.
The user De_Rabbid explained on Reddit about a strange phenomenon, which he supports with a short video: One can see him walking into the bathroom. Here one can see him turning on the shower. At the same moment, the monitor in the adjacent room goes black.
The owner of the shower and monitor is visibly annoyed. Because it is “damn annoying and hilarious every time someone showers here” and the monitor turns off. Imagine this: Your wife is showering next door and immediately your monitor goes black, and that during an important match.
Electric impulse causes disturbance
What causes the problem? The user uses a shower with an electric heater connected. These are systems that are often installed in existing houses without requiring major renovations. Because such systems only require a minimal intervention in the piping system. So someone explains:
When you turn on the shower, the heater could be activated, which could lead to electromagnetic interference or a slight electrical surge in the line, causing the display to go black.
Monitors are particularly susceptible to such interferences. A user had to find out this as well, who was able to deactivate his monitor with a drink can. And such “disturbances” are actually nothing unusual.
Such electrical disturbances at the PC occur more often
What other disturbances are there? A gamer had to listen to strange voices from his computer that only disappeared after he turned off his speakers.
To at least prevent or filter out high-frequency disturbances, manufacturers have implemented a device in electrical cables that many of you have probably seen. Because such a small black cylinder can be found on almost every charging cable. What it does, you can read in the following article on MeinMMO:
Why do so many USB and charging cables have a strange plastic part built in and do gamers need this?
