The XM4 has made its way into the hearts of many players since the start of Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone. What kind of weapon is this? The XM4 assault rifle is presumably based on a similarly named model of the “M4 Carbine” family from the American defense company Colt. The model “M720” was also called XM4, but was only produced in the mid-90s. Thus, the weapon would be an indirect evolution of the M16, which is also featured in the game (via Wikipedia).
The XM4 came to Warzone with the integration of Cold War, and its similarity to the M4A1 from Modern Warfare is apparent. However, the similarities do not end visually. Both weapons are considered all-rounders and have strong setups for close and long-range combat.
However, the XM4 takes it a step further. The assault rifle competes with submachine guns in Warzone, serves well as sniper support, and is also solid in long-range. Theoretically, you need no other weapon, as the XM4 aims to deliver everything you need.

What makes the XM4 strong? Powerful weapons in Warzone need a controllable recoil along with decent damage, and that’s exactly what the XM4 offers. The assault rifle is not absolutely top-notch in any area but combines robust and stable values into a top all-rounder.

Each operational field benefits from values that specialized weapons do not offer. As an SMG, the XM4 provides better bullet speed and enlarges the area where you can engage in close combat. As sniper support, you get strong long-range capability, and at greater distances, the mobility values agree. Your movement speed and ADS speed, for example, are better than with the very popular FARA 83.
What can the XM4 not do well? Its greatest advantage is also the XM4’s biggest drawback – the lack of specialization leads to weapons with restricted versatility having better values.
In close combat, submachine guns are more mobile, and in long-range combat, some competitors are more stable. The XM4 often falls somewhere in the middle. But that’s precisely what makes the weapon so interesting – it conveys its own game feel.
What operational area is recommended? Due to its good stability and strong damage, we recommend using it as an all-round weapon with a focus on long range. The XM4 allows you, together with a large scope and some practice, to land easy hits even at long distances and exceeds the damage of the FARA 83.
The situation is comparable to the M4A1 from Modern Warfare. You take on more recoil in exchange for more damage than with the Grau 5.56 or the M13.
Only slightly behind the use as a long-range rifle is the option “Sniper Support.” The good range along with solid values for damage and mobility can serve you well in the area that’s a bit too close for your sniper rifle. However, the XM4 competes in this area with the AK-47 from Cold War, which has a lower rate of fire but deals more damage – AK-47: 600 rounds/minute / XM4: 721 rounds/minute.

What does a strong XM4 setup look like? For long range, the XM4 is satisfied with a standard setup that you can adjust to your preferences:

The barrel and muzzle give you maximum bullet velocity, allowing for easy hits at long distances. Additionally, the range of the XM4 increases by just over 10 meters, extending the first damage range to 32 meters.
The barrel and underbarrel also provide better control and minimize recoil. The sight enhances your effectiveness at long range, and with the larger magazine, you boost your penetration capability.
