After the release of Battlefield 2042 was postponed, it seems it will also take a while until the beta starts. But when exactly does it start? Insider Tom Henderson reveals a new possible date: It should finally start at the beginning of October.
After the news came this week that Battlefield 2042 is being postponed, many wondered: Does this also affect the open beta? Up until this point, there was no exact date for this, only September was officially considered the release period.
With the postponement announcement, EA mentioned that new information about the beta start should finally come next week. Now, it seems that the well-known insider Tom Henderson has come forward and revealed a new date via his Twitter channel.
When is the beta supposed to come now? According to the insider, the beta starts in early October:
- The two-day early access phase is supposed to begin on October 6.
- The beta is then supposed to start for everyone on October 8.
Henderson does not mention a specific duration, but it is traditionally expected to last about a week.

Why was Battlefield 2042 actually postponed? Developer DICE cited the Corona pandemic and the unpredictable challenges it posed during the development phase as the main reason.
They want to release the game in good condition and need a few additional weeks to ensure that.
In advance, there were already rumors about the postponement, as EA had been suspiciously quiet throughout August and the previous September while the beta was actually approaching. Now it seems clear what the reason for that was.
The reactions were relatively calm. Most players just hope that Battlefield 2042 will be released in good condition and runs flawlessly.
Other players, however, criticized the poor or nonexistent communication from the developers and the publisher with the fans. Especially since it was communicated for months that development was ahead of schedule.
