Is the release of Destiny 3 around the corner, or is the focus on the current Destiny 2? Bungie has now provided an answer in an interview.
In short: Currently, Guardians should not expect any major announcements regarding Destiny 3. The next step in the Destiny franchise is still some time away. Those hoping for soon information about the Destiny 2 successor will have to wait.
I don’t have any good announcements to make about the next bold moves we’ll make in the franchise

Where do the information come from? The statements we are referring to here come from Community Manager Deej. He conducted an interview with PCgamesN, where the question about the future of the Destiny franchise was discussed.
David ‘Deej’ Dague also mentioned that he knows how important the topic is. But they are currently not ready to “present a lot of cool stuff”.
What can Guardians expect in 2020?
Bungie’s current focus: Currently, Bungie is working a lot on Destiny 2. They want to fully focus on the individual seasons in 2020.
The Community Manager again emphasized the plan to create a connected Destiny universe. The seasons should all create a common narrative framework, and there should be an overarching story. The current season is thematically leading into the next.
Right now our commitment and our attention is to make the seasons that will unfold over the course of the next year interesting and sustain a perennial story arc that will keep players engaged

We Guardians should be able to feel the impact of our actions and deeds on the game world.
Is it time for Destiny 3? The original release of Destiny 2 was in September 2017 (for consoles). With Shadowkeep, the third year of the current Destiny installment was recently initiated. This brought many changes to the game.
For the first time, Destiny has switched to a “free-to-play” model. The base version of the game is currently completely free to enjoy on consoles, PC, and newly Stadia. Even some contents of the current seasons are available to every Guardian.
Additionally, Bungie recently parted ways with publisher Activision. The Destiny development team is now practically their own boss. It will be interesting to see where Bungie’s journey leads.

The next big step in the Destiny franchise will surely come. However, Bungie will only let us in when there is something significant to report. This may not be such a bad thing. No Guardian would wish for a hasty launch like in 2017 with Destiny 2.
Were you hoping for a timely announcement of Destiny 3, or are you okay with waiting a bit longer? Do you even think there will be no Destiny 3? What is currently available to do in Destiny 2, you can read here:
