Although TERA has been around for a few years, the MMORPG is still evolving. There is no end in sight.
TERA is one of the few MMORPGs that has managed to create a solid player base and continues to appear with new features even seven years after its release.
But how is TERA currently doing? How is the MMO and what plans does it have for the coming years? We take a brief look around and see what TERA had in store for 2018 and what is planned for 2019.
Launch on PS4 and Xbox One: The year 2018 started off well for TERA, as in April the MMORPG finally came to the current consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After some initial difficulties, the game gradually established itself on the consoles.
New patch brought fishing: Especially the last update is popular among fans, as it introduced a new profession. From now on, players in Tera can catch more than 50 different fish and then cook them. The update also sorted out some old alchemy recipes and brought the profession up to date.
Steam reviews are getting better: The player base on Steam also seems to be warming up to TERA, which is reflected in the latest reviews and recommendations. In recent weeks, there have been numerous positive comments and reviews that are well above average. This is largely due to the patches that gradually fix issues with the game. Overall, this resulted in 91% positive reviews in the last 30 days (as of: 18.12.2018).
Due to the current content drought in other games, many gamers are checking back into TERA and realize that the MMO is still solid and entertaining.
Level cap rises in 2019: For the first quarter of 2019, En Masse has already published a roadmap explaining what will change in TERA. They plan to release a patch in January that primarily adjusts PvP balance and equipment, focusing on existing mechanics. February will be quieter with the “usual” events for Valentine’s Day and the “Lunar New Year”.
Things will get exciting in March. Then the level cap will be raised to 70 and will bring some new quests as well as a new system for world bosses. More details on this are yet to come.
The future of TERA seems secure, even if work is already being done on a mobile successor to TERA. But the game Ascent: Infinite Realm is also in the works and is set to be released in 2019 …
