What is crafting in Anthem? In Anthem, you can earn various rewards through expeditions. This includes blueprints with which you can create specific gear pieces or weapons at your forge.
Blueprints show you which resources are needed and allow you to craft the item repeatedly.
Where do you get blueprints? You receive these blueprints as potential rewards from freeplay expeditions or through specific challenges in the Codex.
When you rank up with a faction in Fort Tarsis, you can also unlock new crafting options.
What does the crafting system bring?
You can craft items repeatedly: For example, if you obtain a blueprint for the “Fulcrum” pistol, you can craft the Fulcrum as many times as you want, as long as you have collected the necessary resources.
To craft the Fulcrum at a higher rarity level, you must first unlock the corresponding blueprint before you can upgrade the weapon.
You can give your items additional effects: These effects grant you various bonuses and advantages. The power level of the item always corresponds to your current pilot level.
Which effects your item ultimately receives is purely random. Depending on the item type, there are various bonuses that either support your Javelin or make the item itself more effective.
You can improve items you have already obtained: When crafting, the potential effects are reshuffled each time.
These additional bonuses can be found on all items that have a rarity level of Uncommon (green) or higher. Gear with a high rarity, such as Epic (purple) or Masterwork (orange), even contains multiple bonuses and stronger effects.
The following items can receive additional effects:
- All weapons
- All (interchangeable) Javelin abilities
- All Javelin components
How can you craft?
Collecting materials: To craft a weapon or piece of gear, you need a blueprint and a specific amount of materials. The rarer the desired item is, the harder it will be to gather the required resources.
Here’s how to get resources: For resources, there are various materials and parts. You can harvest many materials in freeplay from certain plants or rock formations scattered throughout the world. Therefore, it’s worth landing and simply exploring the area for resources.
You obtain parts by dismantling weapons or Javelin abilities. For this reason, duplicates that you no longer need prove to be an optimal source for this.
Loot chests and scrap piles can also contain a variety of different resources.
Additionally, you can auction all materials in the Regulator shop for coins. However, the prices for them are a bit high. Therefore, at the beginning, it is better to search for materials in the open world instead of wasting your valuable coins on them.
Why is crafting important?
You get stronger through crafting: Creating better gear gradually increases your overall level and makes your Javelin stronger.
To keep up in the endgame, you should improve your favorite gear as much as possible and hope for effective bonuses. Because at higher difficulty levels, each single percentage can be crucial.
Can I craft everything in Anthem?
There are consumables: These items are special seals that you can select before any expedition on the overview map. You can equip up to three seals per mission.
These seals provide you with additional benefits during the duration of a mission and disappear afterward. They are therefore one-time use only.
You cannot craft legendary weapons: These can currently only be obtained through random drops. The highest rarity level that you can craft yourself is the Masterwork rarity.
This is intended by BioWare to make legendary weapon drops more significant. Because of this, players must search for potential “God Rolls” themselves and hope for a good drop instead of working towards it specifically.
For that reason, it will be all the more rewarding for you when you actually manage to get a legendary drop with good bonuses.
