World of Warcraft in current graphics? Ironforge in Unreal Engine 4 could become a real eye-catcher, as this video shows.
Even though the graphics of World of Warcraft are more or less timeless due to the comic look, they have not kept up with the latest technology for some time now – even if WoW will soon get ray tracing. Many people take this as an opportunity to recreate special places from World of Warcraft in Unreal Engine 4 and give them a modern and more realistic look.
One of these people is the YouTuber Brian Vagie, who has taken on the dwarven city of Ironforge. He has recreated the large capital city from World of Warcraft with details, as well as a large part of the surrounding area of Dun Morogh.

What is to be seen? Next to the impressive mountain with the dwarven towers, the forge inside is especially eye-catching. The various districts are also richly detailed, especially the tinkers’ quarter has many little quirks that gnome players would likely recognize. The journey ends in the deep railway, which connects Ironforge to the human capital Stormwind.

What is being criticized: In this example of Ironforge, however, there is also a lot of criticism. This is mainly because the creator seems to have exaggerated a bit with the lighting and bloom effects. As a result, many objects reflect too strongly and the many details appear out of place, as if they are not an integrated part of the environment. With slightly toned-down effects, Ironforge could work well in modern graphics.
What do you think of Ironforge in Unreal Engine 4? Would it be cool to experience WoW in a more modern and realistic graphic? Or would that ruin the gaming experience?
