Currently, things are a bit quieter around Destiny 2, but new rumors about Destiny 3 are now circulating. What do they say?
Here are the rumors: While Bungie is currently holding the Community Summit, where the focus is already on the next season, fresh rumors about Destiny 3 have emerged on Reddit. These are said to reveal potential details about the direction and some content of the game.
They are currently being actively debated on the discussion platform and are generating a lot of talk. The corresponding thread has already received over 1,000 upvotes and more than 650 comments after just about 15 hours.

Where do the rumors come from? The rumors themselves are not really new and date back to January 2019, when they first appeared on the platform 4chan. An anonymous source posted them there, claiming that Destiny 3 will release in 2020 and that they knew everything firsthand about the current state.
However, while the rumors were initially laughed off and dismissed, they are currently piquing the interest of numerous fans. Due to the new lore about the Nine, the Darkness, as well as some information snippets about the next season, these supposed details are now seen in a different light by some fans.
Furthermore, parts of the new rumors align with the statements of the almost legendary leaker AnonTheNine. This person predicted a wealth of details about Forsaken and the contents of the Annual Pass and was correct in all their claims.

These are the latest rumors about Destiny 3
You should keep in mind: Please note that these are unconfirmed rumors. Therefore, these supposed details should be viewed with a corresponding dose of skepticism and caution. Be aware that you may encounter potential spoilers.
Story and Background: The storyline of Destiny 3 is said to revolve around the second Collapse. It will apparently clarify what the Darkness is.
According to rumors, it is a race of inter-dimensional beings known as “The Veil”. They are attempting to resurrect “the Formless”.

Destiny 3 is said to begin with a massive war. The Traveler will be heavily wounded and overwhelmed, the Earth and the Last City will be devastated by the Darkness. The Guardians will be pushed back into the solar system and must eliminate the “Entombed” – the 7 leaders of the Veil.
Allies, Enemies, Races: There are also said to have been significant changes regarding the races and their relationships with each other.
The Cabal and the Fallen are still to be found in the game, now however as allies of the Last City.
The old new role of the enemy will be taken over by the Darkness in the form of the Veil. They possess more troops than all other races combined and have a drastic influence on the environment and the abilities of the Guardians. For instance, they are said to be able to suppress light-based abilities or completely negate gravity in their immediate vicinity.

Additionally, there is supposed to be another brand new enemy – the Aphelion. They are said to be the most dangerous race in the game and embody so-called glass cannons, which cannot take much damage but can deal devastating hits.
They are said to suppress all your abilities and can prevent a resurrection (by the Ghost) in their vicinity.
Also, the Vex, the Hive, and the Taken are expected to return as enemies in Destiny 3.
Xivu Arath, goddess of war and youngest sister of Savathûn, is said to play a significant role, as well as the Cabal emperor Calus, who leads a new shadow faction. The Nine are expected to become very important and finally meet the Guardians personally when the Veil has taken over the system.

Gameplay: Destiny 3 is being developed with the vision of bringing hardcore players and veterans of the Destiny series back. There will be a new element – the Darkness. This is said to enable brand new gameplay that focuses on factions and the battle between light and darkness.
Factions: The Guardians will be able to represent a whole range of factions – including:
- Future War Cult
- New Monarchy
- Dead Orbit
- Veil’s Hand
- Emperors Shadow
- House of Judgement

The individual factions grant you various abilities and powers. Some of these, like Veil’s Hand, are said to enable you to harness the powers of darkness.
Locations: The Earth and the Last City are said to be destroyed by the Veil. The moon Europa, Old Chicago, Venus, and the Hollowed Spire are the four worlds Destiny 3 launches with. Each planet is said to be larger than those in Destiny 2.
The Hollowed Spire is supposed to be a massive endgame area – similar to the Dreaming City from Destiny 2. A large part of the new PvP faction battles is expected to take place there. It is an alien city, where the Formless originally comes from.

In the respective locations, there will be plenty for the Guardians to do – such as dungeons or so-called Holds. Capturing these Holds is the basis for faction war gameplay. The planets will change depending on which faction currently dominates them.
Raids: Destiny 3 is expected to launch with two massive raids. The first raid is supposed to lead the Guardians into the heart of the Hollowed Spire, where you will face “Heart of the Deep”, that is at the heart of the abyss against the Formless. The raid is said to be designed for 12 Guardians and symbolizes the grand finale of the second Collapse. The source only mentioned that the second raid is against the Hive.
Trials of the Nine: The Trials of the Nine are also expected to be present in Destiny 3. This time, they will be conducted personally by the Nine. They are also the leaders of their own faction, which specifically focuses on progress in the Trials.

What do the fans say? These rumors are met with mixed feelings among the fans. Many consider them to be fake, as hardly anyone seriously expects a 12-man raid and it simply sounds too good to be true. Moreover, they originate from platform 4chan, where such contributions often turn out to be unreliable.
Others emphasize that this is Destiny 3, which is now solely in Bungie’s hands and the studio can finally realize its own vision of the game. So, it is certainly possible, although one has to wait and see.
Yet others would be happy if it would come close to this and are somewhat optimistic. Because the leak from AnonTheNine aligns with some points in the same vein as these latest rumors. And Anon has, after all, been correct in most of their statements so far.
What do you think of these rumors? Fake? Or could there actually be something to it? Would you be excited if Destiny 3 were to take such a direction?
