The Xbox Series S/X entices less with exclusive games that can sell many consoles. But suddenly, many players are buying a new Xbox, not to play new games, but to enjoy the old CoDs.
What did Microsoft do? In terms of console popularity, the PS5 has a significant advantage over the Xbox in terms of units sold. More people bought Sony’s latest console. Microsoft reopened the servers for these games, making them playable again, and many are taking the new opportunity to revisit the old classics. As recently as March, many players complained about the poor status of the official servers after fan servers were shut down.

This makes Xbox even better than the PS5. Many players are now purchasing the new Xbox consoles for the old CoDs, as the server improvements only affect the Xbox consoles. Both consoles have backward compatibility, but the PS5 can only play PS4 games and a few newly released classics in the store. On the Xbox Series X|S, you can play some games from the Xbox 360 or even the original Xbox. This with improved resolution and an FPS boost.
The affordable price of the Xbox Series S also convinces many who probably just want to relive the old CoDs. Reworking the servers is also a positive development for the playability of old multiplayer games.
