What is this about? The E3 2021 runs this year from Saturday, June 12 to Tuesday, June 15. Many presentations and teasers for new games are expected.
In this article, we want to focus on the most important information and rumors surrounding MMOs, online, and co-op games. Currently, there are hints about a new Borderlands spin-off and a new shooter from Ubisoft. Two MMORPGs are also the subject of rumors.
Borderlands – Spin-off to Tiny Tina
What is the rumor? According to a leak, a spin-off to Borderlands titled Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is set to be released. It is said that the game will stylistically connect to the previous Borderlands games and players will play as “multiclass heroes” there.
However, there is also a possibility that this game is an expansion for Borderlands 3, similar to Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep, but on a larger scale.
How likely is that? A new game in the Borderlands series is considered very likely. Even the renowned gaming journalist Jason Schreier has already confirmed this. The name “Wonderlands” also appears in the data of the teaser website. Thus, the title of the game is almost considered confirmed (via twitter.com).
Diablo Immortal – Finally a release date
What is the rumor? On June 10, the “Summer Game Fest” hosted by Geoff Keighley will take place. Several large publishers and developers will be present, including Blizzard. They currently have three big games in the pipeline:
- Diablo Immortal
- Overwatch 2
- Diablo 4
However, there was little new information about Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 at the in-house BlizzCon event in February 2021. Diablo Immortal, on the other hand, is currently the hottest game and many suspect that a release date will finally be announced.
How likely is that? Diablo Immortal has been in development for three years and many expected a much earlier release of the mobile game. At the end of 2020, the first players were able to try out Diablo Immortal and found the game surprisingly good. A release for 2021 has already been confirmed.
A release date at E3 is considered very likely.

Lost Ark – The new MMORPG from Korea
What is the rumor? The MMORPG Lost Ark is said to be brought to the West by Amazon in 2021. But so far, it has been very quiet about the game. There has not yet been an official announcement regarding the release, nor any information about the game’s content.
Lost Ark has been playable in Korea for several years and has received many new updates there.
How likely is that? Amazon is part of the Summer Games Fest on June 10. There could theoretically be an announcement. So far, there is no concrete information or leaks on this topic.
Since a 2021 release is seen as a fixed date, Amazon must make a big announcement at some point. Many expect it to be at E3.
It is also possible that E3 will only be used for information about New World. However, that game requires less press attention than Lost Ark does.
BattleCat – A new shooter from Ubisoft
What is the rumor? There has also been a leak about the new shooter BattleCat. It is said that this game will be a shooter in which Splinter Cell, The Division and Ghost Recon clash. The images reveal some details about presumed game modes, factions, or faction abilities.
According to the leak, initial tests are said to have begun as early as January 2021.
How likely is that? The leak comes from user Zer0Bytes_, who had already correctly predicted an operator from Rainbow Six in 2020. Generally, a shooter that connects multiple franchises from Ubisoft seems possible.
Concrete information is expected in the upcoming Ubisoft Forward on Saturday.
Forza Horizon 5 – A new installment in the racing game series
What is the rumor? Allegedly, a new Forza Horizon is set to be announced during E3 2021. This information came from Twitter user Klobrille, who regularly shares information regarding Bethesda and Xbox. According to him, Forza Horizon 5 will be the first game announced for Xbox Series X/S within the framework of E3 (via Twitter).
How likely is that? This game, along with Lost Ark, has the biggest question mark. Because so far, Forza games have always been released alternately. Currently, Forza Motorsport 8 is officially on the agenda, and Horizon 5 should come later.
But the rumor of a release in 2021 persists.
Halo Infinite – New information about the shooter from Microsoft
What is the rumor? Halo Infinite was originally scheduled for release as a new title for Xbox Series X/S at the end of 2020. However, the release of the shooter was postponed to fall 2021. Many suspect that Microsoft will share new information about the shooter at E3.
How likely is that? Very likely. Halo Infinite is an important game and was postponed for nearly a year for a reason. During the big event by Microsoft and Bethesda, new information about the shooter is practically mandatory, especially because Halo Infinite is clearly recognizable in the teaser image for the event.
Battlefield 2042 – A new installment in the series
What is the rumor? Battlefield 2042 – originally known as Battlefield 6 – is no longer a rumor, but has already been announced with a trailer. Further information about it is expected on June 13. Additionally, there have been repeated leaks in the last weeks.
According to a leak, the game is titled Battlefield 2042 and is supposed to take place in a modern setting. It is supposed to have huge maps and a squad and hero system.
Additionally, the game is said to offer crossplay, with the versions of old generations differing from those of next-gen consoles and PCs. The first tests are reportedly set to start in June.
How likely is that? Battlefield 2042 is a sure thing. The previous leaks regarding the topic are exciting. The rumors about the setting and the maps sound plausible, even if it was initially assumed that Battlefield 6 might orient itself more towards CoD Warzone.
What other rumors are there?
- No longer a rumor, but firmly confirmed are new information about Rainbow Six: Extraction.
- Warframe may share information about new updates during the PC Gaming Show. This is considered likely.
- Bethesda could share new information about The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, and DOOM. All of this is possible, although the focus is likely to be on Starfield.
