Red Dead Redemption 2 – The late game of the year?
Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) comes from Rockstar Games, the developers of GTA V. Just like in the gangster epic, you have a large open world in Red Dead Redemption 2 that you can explore at your leisure.
However, the game is set in the Wild West, where you play as an outlaw. You can indulge in typical cowboy and bandit activities such as catching and riding horses or robbing banks.
What is special about Red Dead Redemption 2?
Not much has been confirmed about Red Dead Redemption 2 as of yet. The developers and publisher Take-Two have kept quite a bit under wraps. Unlike the predecessor, the multiplayer part in Red Dead Redemption is expected to play a significant role.
A leak even suggested that Red Dead Redemption 2 will focus more on online features than GTA V.
This is expressed in some aspects (if the leak is accurate):
- The world will be persistent and lively. NPCs will engage in different activities depending on the time of day.
- There will be typical MMO content such as quests
- There will be housing, specifically in tents that you can spruce up
- You may even be able to fish or tame horses in mini-games.
There will also be fun game modes like GTA Online:
- Revive and Survive: This mode is said to be a kind of team-deathmatch, in which you can revive fallen comrades for a brief period before they are lost for good.
- Money Grab: A sort of capture the flag, where you steal bags of money while the enemy team is doing the same.
- There may also be a Battle Royal mode similar to Fortnite or PUBG.
However, all this information is based on rumors and leaks and is therefore not 100% certain.
Who is Red Dead Redemption ideal for?
Red Dead Redemption is aimed at players who are great fans of Westerns. The game showcases typical Wild West elements and does not shy away from cowboy hats, revolvers, saloons, poker rounds, and gruff, tough men.
In addition, the typical GTA gameplay allows you to freely explore a large, open world while following an engaging story full of quirky anti-heroes. So, if you enjoyed GTA Online and have at least some interest in the Wild West, you should not miss out on Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26, 2018, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC release has not yet been confirmed or denied.
