The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset – An MMORPG for everyone?
The second major chapter (what ESO calls its expansions) for The Elder Scrolls Online is Summerset. There you will be taken to the eponymous Summerset Isles. Here live the arrogant and xenophobic High Elves. Their beautiful island homeland is under threat and dark cults are thriving underground.
On behalf of the mysterious Psijik Order, you will investigate the threat. The story will include many quests, and in the main narrative, there will finally be a conclusion to the story surrounding the Daedra Triad. This storyline has been ongoing since the Orsinium DLC from 2015 and is now approaching its conclusion and epic climax.
What new features does Summerset bring?
Those expecting major innovations might be disappointed with Summerset. Unlike in the previous expansion Morrowind, this time there is nothing completely new. There is no new class and no new PvP modes.
However, Summerset offers a range of features that should provide plenty of fun in ESO:
- A new skill line with 11 abilities from the Psijik Order, available to every hero regardless of class
- A new Crafting profession called “Jewelry Crafting”. This allows you to finally craft jewelry with significant bonuses
- A new raid called “Cloudrest” with new raid loot
- Comprehensive changes to all classes. Each hero is intended to become more versatile.
- Two-handed weapons count as 2 set items
- A huge new area on the Summerset Isles, where a lot of quests await you
More character depth thanks to Psijik skills
Especially the new Psijik Order skills are likely to shake things up in ESO. Each hero will gain access to 5 active, 5 passive, and a new Ultimate ability after completing the associated quest line.
This allows you to rebuild existing builds and offers completely new possibilities for use. For example, you can restore energy more quickly, control enemies, and even rewind time like Tracer in Overwatch.
Who is Summerset ideal for?
Summerset is the perfect expansion for loyal fans of The Elder Scrolls Online. If you enjoyed the previous style of the game, you will receive plenty of familiar content here. So, more quests, more story, more items, more raids.
All this should be delivered again in the quality that Zenimax is known for and will satisfy fans of the game. However, those hoping for significant innovations may be disappointed by Summerset.
Summerset will be released on May 21, 2018, for PC and Mac. On June 5, the expansion will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. If you like, you can already test Summerset on the PTS on PC.
