In an action-packed shooter like Call of Duty: Warzone, mobility is an important value. But what does that actually mean in the CoD battle royale? MeinMMO shows you the details.
What is mobility in Warzone? Mobility in Call of Duty: Warzone is a weapon value that you see in the Gunsmith in the bottom left when setting up your loadouts. This mobility bar consists of the following values:
- Base value of the weapon
- ADS speed
- Hip fire
- Movement speed
- Sprinting to fire speed
So you see the base value of the weapon and either a “red” value deduction if you choose attachments that reduce one of the above values or a “green” value bonus if you improve a value.
Why are these values important in Warzone? Whether in a duel with an enemy or on the way to the next cover – having high mobility gives you an advantage in many situations. We explain what the individual values bring and when you can afford to sacrifice high mobility in Warzone.
What does ADS speed bring?
This value determines your “time to aim”. That is, the period you need to be fully aimed after pressing the button.
Often the English term “ADS” is used, which stands for “Aim Down Sights”. Other names are “ADS speed” or “aiming speed”.
This value is one of the most important characteristics of weapons in Warzone, as it often determines, together with the “Time-to-Kill” (TTK), how quickly you can take down an enemy. Because to hit enemies safely that are not directly in front of you, you need to aim.
With a high ADS speed, weapons feel snappier. However, the longer the combat distance, the less you need to pay attention to your time to aim. At greater distances, precision and stability are the focus. In close combat, however, you should fully rely on ADS speed – with the exception of hip-fire weapons.
What does hip fire bring?
When hip firing, you shoot bullets from your weapon without aiming down sights. A better hip fire value reduces the spread of your bullets and allows you to hit better when firing from the hip.
You can usually neglect this value. Hip fire can be strong, as seen with a suitable setup for the MP7. But you only need this value in close combat, and even here it’s often better to aim down sights. Instead of a strong attachment for hip fire, it’s better to reduce your ADS speed or increase other mobility values. Or go for the R9-0 shotgun with Dragon’s Breath.
What does movement speed bring?
This value determines how fast you move on foot in Warzone. Each weapon has its own value, which is heavily dependent on the weapon classes. Additionally, there are 4 movement modes in the game:
- Walking: 100% – approx. 18 km/h
- Running: 130% – approx. 23 km/h
- Tactical sprint: 150% – approx. 27 km/h
- Crouching: 45% – approx. 8 km/h
You have 100% movement speed in Warzone with a combat knife – that’s essentially the base value. Holding your weapon reduces this value. However, you can also exceed it.
- Very slow: Rocket launchers
- Rather slow: Shields, snipers, LMGs
- Mediocre: DMRs, assault rifles, shotguns
- Almost 100%: Submachine guns
- Over 100% possible: Light pistols
There are few attachments that can improve your movement speed. Usually, your speed is directly dependent on the specific value of the weapon you are holding. Here are some tips on how to move faster across the map.
What does sprint to fire speed bring?
In Call of Duty, you cannot shoot directly from a sprint at your enemies. Each weapon also has its own value here and sets a time frame in which you need to fire after sprinting. If you improve this value, you will be able to fire faster after a sprint.
The values for normal and tactical sprint also need to be distinguished. If you come out of a tactical sprint, you need a bit longer to open fire again.
The so-called “sprint-out-time” is not as important as your ADS speed, but should not be underestimated if you want to build a mobile weapon. Since you are constantly moving and sprinting in Warzone, having a high “sprint to fire” speed can be very pleasant on your favorite assault rifle.
When should I sacrifice mobility?
The farther away your target is, the less you benefit from high mobility values. A little exception to this is movement speed – you can actually always use that in Warzone.
But in general, you need to pay less attention to mobility with a sniper rifle than with a submachine gun. Especially with the very large calibers, HDR and AX-50, it’s more about aim stability and range.
Your playstyle is also crucial here – if you like to glance through the sight and want to release a quick shot, high mobility values also make sense for sniper rifles like the Kar98k and SP-R.
Otherwise, you always have to weigh whether certain advantages of a weapon are worth the trade-off in mobility. LMGs are very sluggish but have huge magazines. Assault rifles are slower than submachine guns but have much more range.
Always carry a weapon with high mobility values in Warzone. That’s why submachine guns work so well as a secondary weapon in the battle royale – you are strong in close combat and can switch to the MP for high movement speed to get across the map faster.
Other mobility values
The above-mentioned values are the base values of weapon mobility in Warzone. However, there are other values that can make your game more “mobile”:
- Reload speed
- Weapon swap
- Walking speed while aiming
- Movement speed while firing
- Slide speed
Also, try experimenting with these values and see what advantages they can bring to your playstyle. Speed when aiming improves your “strafing”, that is, the movements to the side, and high speed during weapon swaps can make you more flexible in some situations.
Once you have found the right weapon with the right setup, playing Warzone becomes much more enjoyable, and you will perform significantly better than with most weapons you find as ground loot in the battle royale. Now you just need the right tactics to make it safely into the endgame.
