Ashes of Creation is one of the next big games for many MMORPG fans. However, for several weeks now, there has been no news from the developers. A release in 2019 seems unlikely.
Why has there been little news about the game lately? At the end of last year, the developers communicated a lot with the players. Topics included, for example, the PvE or the PvP standalone Apocalypse. But lately, there has been silence.
The reason for this is likely the failed launch of Apocalypse. The battle royal was supposed to serve as a perfect testing ground to try out the combat system and stress the servers. Additionally, it was meant to provide a first impression of how to support a live game.
Things went wrong with Apocalypse: Although the game scored not too badly on its first play test, there were all sorts of problems. User databases were not functional, the servers were unstable for a long time, and the performance of Apocalypse was not perfect.
Therefore, the developers took the game offline for the time being and promised beta weekends where the game would be tested. However, the beta weekends came very irregularly, and the planned release in February will also not be met.
This casts a shadow over the development of the MMORPG.
Is Ashes of Creation coming in 2019?
The MMORPG Ashes of Creation was originally announced for 2019. Many now doubt a release this year.
How realistic is a release in 2019? The delays and resources related to Apocalypse leave little hope.
In general, the timeline was already very tight, as only two months were planned for the beta phases. But even now, they are falling behind this schedule.
As of December 2018, the Fortress mode was supposed to be tested. This was introduced in January, but is far from being able to be tried out in the yet-to-be-released Apocalypse.
Moreover, the Horde mode is supposed to be released in March, about which we have heard almost nothing so far.
Even some content creators are doubting: YouTuber Big Cheeked Giant, who has been following Ashes of Creation since before its onset, has now stated in a video that a release in 2019 seems unlikely.
He is currently also disappointed with the communication with the community and missed deadlines. Similar sentiments were also expressed by Paradox Gaming, another big Ashes YouTuber.
Do they want to rip off players with Ashes of Creation?
Paradox Gaming also addressed the issue of the game’s costs. Players have spent money on alpha access and feel somewhat cheated because Apocalypse was supposed to be part of the alpha.
Battle Pass without playing: For many, the standalone is just a money-printing machine. Skins and a Battle Pass are already being sold there, which cannot be used since Apocalypse is currently inaccessible.
The Battle Pass is said to be extended once the game is officially released, yet many players are disappointed with the steps taken by Intrepid Studios.
Cosmetic content is being advertised: The news in February about Ashes of Creation concerns that there are new cosmetic contents.
These can be purchased in the shop for real money. Together with these, one receives playtime and access to alpha and beta phases, as long as one does not already have them.
The cosmetic contents like headwear or clothing sets can only be used in the MMORPG.
The hope dies last
Even though many players are currently complaining about Ashes of Creation, they are convinced by the basic system of the MMORPG. The Node system, the developers’ ideas, and the combat system raise hopes for a good game.
