Recoil is king in Call of Duty: Warzone and the value “Control” summarizes all types of recoil in the game. But how does “Control” work in Warzone and what types of recoil are there? MeinMMO clarifies.

CoD Warzone: What is Control?
How is recoil composed? Each weapon has a basic recoil pattern that you can recognize when you fire the weapon at a wall without attachments.
Usually, the bullets go slightly in a specific direction, sometimes bullets jump out of the pattern. But everything is derived from this base pattern.
However, chance sometimes plays a certain role and peculiarities of individual weapons in “visual recoil”. We explain the individual terms and influencing factors:
- Recoil pattern
The basic recoil that determines how the weapon moves while firing if you do not counteract.
- Vertical recoil
The general recoil upwards. The vertical deviations of a weapon can usually be controlled more easily.
- Horizontal recoil
The general recoil to the side. This recoil is harder to control, and many weapons with strong horizontal deviations fail in Warzone.
- Visual recoil
The recoil pattern rarely determines the actual feeling of recoil of a weapon. Often, it is the movements of the sights while firing that determine the feel of the weapon.

- Kick-Off
Many weapons have a stronger recoil at the beginning of sustained fire, which decreases after a few shots.
However, for some weapons, it’s the other way around – for the NZ-41 from Vanguard, recoil increases the longer you hold down the trigger.
- Horizontal bounce
This type of recoil is often very unpleasant and can ruin good weapons.
This leads to small recoil jumps during sustained fire, causing the crosshair to jump left or right – sometimes even in both directions.
- Re-Centering
This value applies to weapons with low rate of fire and single-shot weapons.
The Re-Centering determines how quickly a weapon returns to the point you aimed at after a shot.
- Recoil deviation
This is the so-called “bloom effect”. A random value that causes your bullets to deviate from the point you aimed at.
Vanguard weapons are generally said to have no bloom effect in Warzone anymore (via ravensoftware.com). However, older weapons from CoD MW or Cold War still have this value.

- Recoil Adjustment / Recoil Behavior
A change in the basic recoil pattern.
- Recoil Deviation
This is the recoil deviation, so the bloom effect.
- Recoil increase, decrease / Recoil Magnitude
A multiplier for the individual strength of recoil after each shot.
- Recoil Control
A multiplier for the reduction of recoil that can be found on attachments.
