Fans of Borderlands are waiting for the announcement of Borderlands 3. We are looking into what is happening. Fans hope that more information about the release will come in December. A supposed leak gives quiet hope.
This is the status of Borderlands 3:
- Update: The release date for Borderlands 3 is now confirmed
- The company Gearbox desperately needs a hit after the flop “Battleborn”
- Borderlands 3 is still officially not announced
- However, it is known that Gearbox is working hard on the title or something similar
- Actually, it was thought that there would be information at the E3 2018, but that was canceled
- As the release window, publisher 2k has mentioned April 1, 2019, to March 2020. However, they are not yet talking about Borderlands 3, but about a “new title in the largest 2k franchises”
Since May 2018, not much has been publicly said about Borderlands 3.
2 independent sources allegedly confirm: Localization is in progress
This gives fans hope now: A YouTube video says they have received information about Borderlands 3 from sources.
Two sources would have independently confirmed to the YouTubers that Borderlands 3 has been in the localization process for several languages for several months now.
This means that Borderlands is currently being translated. This is usually a step that comes quite late in the development of a game. You must first have all the texts and stories before you can translate them.
This is what fans are hoping for right now: On the forum “reddit”, people are speculating when Borderlands 3 might be announced.
With so late in the year, there are hardly any big conferences left. Especially because the PlayStation Experience will not take place in 2018, only a few big stages are available for a presentation. The PlayStation Experience would have actually been a good date.
Currently, fans have their eyes on the Video Game Awards on December 7. That would be a good time for an announcement.
This is what lies behind it: One must assume that Borderlands 3 is banking on a “short hype phase”. Unlike games like The Division 2 or Anthem, which are announced for a year but have little to show, Borderlands 3 likely wants a short and hot presentation phase and remains silent until then.
Actually, Borderlands 3 was intended for the same period as Anthem and The Division 2 – they have moved the release window yet again, but probably not too far. Gearbox must be working on something with the giant team.
December as a possible announcement date does not seem so unrealistic if Borderlands 3 is supposed to be released in summer 2019. We shall see.
