ARK Survival Evolved will leave Early Access at the end of August 2017. Fans are wondering what will happen to the survival MMO after the full release. Will there still be updates and expansions? Studio Wildcard responded in its community crunch, promising to continue supporting ARK.
ARK Survival Evolved has been in Early Access for over two years. Since June 2015, the survival MMO has grown tremendously. More than 100 creatures have moved into the ARK, and there are expansions like Ragnarok, which offer players new adventures.
ARK is set to go into full release later this month. The originally planned launch date would have been August 8, but it has been moved to August 29, 2017. Despite this delay, it’s clear that the launch is on the horizon.
The community is now wondering what will happen to ARK once it’s “finished”. Studio Wildcard answered this question in its community crunch.
Studio Wildcard promises new content for ARK, even after launch
There will still be new content for ARK Survival Evolved after the launch. Development on the survival MMO will continue.
Studio Wildcard will add new content to the base game after full release, such as:
- new dinos to tame
- new engrams (skills) to learn.
- new items to craft
- “Quality of Life” mods
- gameplay
- optimizations and improvements
- new free updates
- DLCs – paid and free
New Tek items are coming to ARK in August
New content is coming to ARK by the end of August 2017. Survivors will soon be able to use new Tek items, as seen in the image above. The survivor is wearing:
- The TEK Sword: has a dash-charge and pierces through armor
- The TEK Shield: can reflect projectiles and bullets and blocks splash damage
- The TEK Light: powers itself using elemental shards or can be connected to generators
Additionally, the latest official mod Ragnarok is receiving a massive update. The map will be expanded to the size of The Island. Survivors will encounter new biomes, such as the Wyvern Canyon or the tropical desert. A new epic boss will also be added.
