Easter eggs have become an essential feature in games. Which ones do you think were the best?
No, don’t worry, we won’t overwhelm you this year with tons of well-known and lesser-known Easter eggs from various games.
They can be funny, but at some point, you’ve seen them all. Instead, we wanted to know which Easter eggs in games stuck in your memory. Which ones did you find so cool and memorable that you still remember them years later?
You would think it’s not hard to put an Easter egg in a game. But what makes Easter eggs so exciting is the hide-and-seek aspect.
Developers work hard to hide their eggs well from players to maximize the surprise effect. Some hidden eggs are only discovered by players after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
However, there were games before that included such elements. The oldest known case is the game Anti-Aircraft II from 1975, where you could alter your circuit board to make it look like a UFO.
Easter eggs come in all shapes and sizes in games. They can include:
- References to other games from the same or a different developer
- Unexpected absurd situations in games that are otherwise very serious
- Hidden elements that come from the pop culture of our real world and should not actually exist in the game world.
So tell us: Of all the Easter eggs you’ve seen in games so far, which ones were the best? Is there a particular one that stuck in your memory?
