In a short time, the new expansion “Warlords of New York” for The Division 2 will launch. It brings numerous new features, content, and also marks the beginning of the shooter’s second year. But what does the game offer if one forgoes the big Warlords addon?
What’s the deal with the Warlords expansion? On March 3, the “Warlords of New York” expansion is theoretically supposed to kick off the second year of The Division 2. However, Warlords can already be played on all platforms starting (March 2, 1:04 PM).
The addon brings several exciting new features such as a new Open World in Lower Manhattan, New York, a continuation of the story surrounding the hunt for Aaron Keener, or the Seasons.
What if you forgo Warlords? But not every player wants to buy the new expansion. Some want to wait for initial reviews, while others simply want to check in occasionally and not spend any money on the new addon.
Many of them are wondering what The Division 2 has to offer them at all. And that’s exactly what we want to examine more closely.
This is what you get with Title Update 8 without the Warlords expansion
In short: In principle, everything that is part of Title Update 8 (TU8) is available to all owners of The Division 2 – regardless of whether they buy Warlords of New York or not. Important system updates are received by everyone.
This includes numerous improvements to the game, such as Gear 2.0, changes in skills, or recalibration.
However, those who want to fully participate in the revised and expanded endgame of The Division 2 will have to purchase the new Warlords addon.
These innovations come with Title Update 8 for all players – even without Warlords: Here you can see the most important content in a compact overview:
- Heroic difficulty level for all missions
- new character heads if you want to create a new character (essentially the ones from part 1)
- Improvements in the Dark Zones
- the new Gear 2.0 equipment system
- reworked “old” (previous) Brand Sets

- reworked “old” (previous) Exotics
- Level 30 version of the 1st raid “Operation: Dark Hours”
- new recalibration library for saving talents
- overhauled crafting and recalibration

- maximum level remains 30, but the maximum gear score is now 515 (previously 500)
Furthermore, all content from the base game in and around Washington, including the previous endgame and Year 1 DLCs, can still be played. The 2nd raid will also be available to all players (at level 30 without Warlords) once it is released.

What you get with Warlords: The previously mentioned content is available to all players. The following new contents (here only the most important) are only available if you purchase the new expansion Warlords of New York:
- New Open World in Lower Manhattan, New York (no new Dark Zone)
- New campaign with 5 main and 8 side missions that all connect
- 10 new Exotics (weapons and armor pieces)
- 19 new, named items
- 2 new Gear Sets (Striker and System Corruption)
- 2 brand new weapons
- Complete colors that color your entire gear and not just specific parts of it. So if you want to have an entirely black backpack, that’s no longer a problem
- 4 new Brand Sets
- Access to Seasons with all their content such as seasonal manhunts, leagues, global events, and more
- Directives, a kind of new modifiers to refresh gameplay in main and side missions as well as in the open world
- Global difficulty level (aligns the entire game to one difficulty level – including checkpoints)
- new legendary difficulty for the faction outposts in Washington
- New maximum level 40
- new “Level 31 – 40” gear (at level 40 there is no longer a gear score, but only items with varying stats)
- SHD levels – a kind of additional leveling system similar to Paragon levels in Diablo 3. This allows you to specifically boost certain attributes of your character after reaching the new max level 40
- new old factions (reworked) like Rikers and Cleaners as well as the Last Man Battalion, which has now allied with the Black Tusk
- Level 40 version of the first raid “Operation: Dark Hours”
- New skills and skill variants
- Unlimited Level 30 boost for characters (new character starts at Level 30): can be used an unlimited number of times except in hardcore mode, but the related resource reward is only available the first time
