New World was originally announced as a PvP sandbox MMO with some survival elements. Since then, the focus has increasingly shifted towards PvE. But what does New World offer at launch in PvE? We from MeinMMO have summarized all the important points for you.
This content is offered by New World in PvE:
- Various quests, including main quests for the story and quests for your faction
- Strong boss enemies in the open world
- World events with the Corrupted
- Invasions, instanced PvE events in which the Corrupted attack your fortress
- Several dungeons, called expeditions here
- A boss arena with the Spriggan in it
- A housing system with additional bonuses for the open world
Additionally, there are general content in the open world, such as collecting crafting materials and crafting in general, fishing, and leveling various weapons, which we would not specifically describe as PvE content.
Is there PvP in the open world? Yes, but it is purely optional. You can activate it in one of the settlements and then fight against other players in the open world who also have PvP active. However, those who keep PvP disabled can never be attacked.
Quests in New World
What kind of quests does New World offer? The quests in Amazon’s MMO are rather simple. Most of the time, you need to travel to a location to defeat a certain number of enemies, collect items, or interact with something.
You can undertake several types of quests:
- Main quests, through which you learn more about the game world. However, they do not tell a profound story but rather provide an overview of events
- Side quests that you find with NPCs in the open world
- Settlement quests, where you often have to gather resources
- Faction quests, where you complete tasks for a special currency of your faction
- PvP faction quests, for which you must have PvP active
Compared to the first tests, the quests have since been significantly revised and also offer voice acting.
