Today marks the early start for Anthem . However, the spotlight has been on Apex Legends for the last 10 days. Is BioWare disturbed by this?
This is the situation: Today is the planned early start for Anthem. Starting at 4:00 PM, the first Freelancers will begin on PC and Xbox One. Actually, the full focus of the gaming world should be on Anthem today and in the last few days, after all, it is a blockbuster that players have been waiting for 2 years, and the first major gaming highlight of 2019.
But the surprise launch of Apex Legends is stealing the spotlight. With 25 million registered players, the battle royale shooter is the hit of the moment.

The spicy part: Both titles, Anthem and Apex Legends, are from Electronic Arts. Some accuse EA of making a mistake by releasing both online games so closely together. They would steal attention from each other.
What do the people behind Anthem say about the competition from their own house?

This is what BioWare says: In an interview with Business Insider, Producer Mike Gamble says that they see themselves as part of EA and want to sincerely congratulate Respawn.
The game is truly solid, and I play Apex Legends when I am not playing Anthem. That’s pretty fantastic.
No one could have known how huge this would take off. And Apex Legends has really skyrocketed. We are part of the studio culture of Electronic Arts, and if one of our teams has great success, we all cheer for them.
Is Apex Legends a competitor for Anthem? Gamble says that although the target audiences will definitely overlap, both games are different enough.
Apex is a PVP game, F2P and battle royale – so it’s in a very specific niche.
Additionally, Apex Legends is free. Players do not have to decide: “Do I buy the $60 Anthem or the $60 Apex?” Players can simply get Anthem and download Apex as well, says Gamble.
There are already overlaps in the target audience, but that is not a problem. People do not always want to play only PvP, but they also do not always want to play only PvE. Therefore, there is enough space for Anthem and Apex to coexist side by side.

Did BioWare know about Apex? Gamble further states that Apex itself did not surprise BioWare. They were aware of the game. It is now a super time to be at EA with two such titles coming out.
