The new MMO New World by Amazon has been online for just over 2 weeks now, and hundreds of thousands of players are active on the servers. What is your opinion of the game so far?
This is what has happened in the past weeks: Fans who were present at the launch of New World experienced a turbulent start. The rush for the MMORPG was so immense that huge queues formed, and logging into the game often took hours.
The issue persisted stubbornly for the first few days after release. It led to bad reviews on Steam and caused logged-in players to try to cheat the auto-logout system.
Despite this, New World surged to number 2 in the Steam charts within the first days and became one of the largest MMO launches. After two bitter gaming failures, the Amazon executives now celebrated their new game.
Meanwhile, the situation regarding the servers seems to be stabilizing. The queues are getting shorter, and starting October 17, players will be able to switch servers with the new system to transfer their characters to empty and new servers.
