Every gamer needs a graphics card for their PC if they want to play properly. But what is the most important purchase criterion for you?
If you want to play new games in high resolution, you need a fast graphics card. Because without the power of your GPU, many games won’t work, look terrible, or won’t run smoothly.
In another survey, you already told us that you would spend a lot of money on a graphics card. This is also due to the prices currently rising because of low availability. Additionally, there is also the shortage of semiconductors, which affects all manufacturers of graphics cards and consoles.
Today we want to know from you: Apart from the high prices and the performance of the graphics card, what matters most to you? Here are a few thoughts we want to share with you regarding the questions:
- Do you set up your PC so that you can look into your case while gaming and enjoy cool lighting? Or do you not care about RGB lighting at all and just want performance.
- How important is ray tracing to you? Is it just a nice gimmick for you or is it important to you that your (future) graphics card has this capability?
- Do you have a favorite manufacturer from whom your graphics card must be every time, because you have been buying your components there for 10 years?
- Would you prefer a whisper-quiet PC and feel disturbed by any fan noise, or is volume secondary for you?
- Do you buy a graphics card because of its features? One manufacturer has developed a particularly intuitive operating system for its graphics card, you might appreciate the overclocking potential of your pixel accelerator or do you need many specific connections?
What can graphics cards look like? You can see several examples of different graphics cards in the following image gallery.
Many factors play a role when buying a graphics card
Manufacturers rely on very different appearances and offer different functions depending on the series. Depending on the model, a different ventilation system is also used. After all, powerful components generate a lot of heat. Extensive ventilation systems can also make a graphics card wide and long quickly.
A special case is also ray tracing. Meanwhile, AMD graphics cards now support ray tracing, but Nvidia still has the edge in ray tracing with DLSS. Here, AMD wants to provide a similar feature with FidelityFX Super Resolution. However, AMD has now stated that FidelityFX Super Resolution will likely not arrive until the end of 2021 (via GameStar.de). Furthermore, we currently do not know how powerful AMD’s DLSS counterpart will ultimately be.
