After Community Manager DeeJ recently promised fans an upcoming roadmap update, Bungie is now following through and has quickly released an updated summer roadmap for Destiny 2.
Bungie keeps its word – and likely faster than most Guardians expected. After recently promising fans a detailed outlook on the future of Destiny 2 beyond May, the studio has now released an updated roadmap for summer. And it has some surprises in store.

This is how Destiny 2 will continue until September
As many experts and fans had already suspected, the remaining update milestone 1.2.0 and the 2nd expansion “Warmind” will debut in Destiny 2 on May 8, 2018.
The last updates had previously focused on issues in the live game. In the coming months, Bungie will address its vision for the future and make transformative changes to Destiny 2.
This is changing with update 1.2.0 on May 8, 2018
- Seasonal ranking system for the Crucible
- Private Matches known from the predecessor are making a return
- Vault capacity will be increased
- A multi-emote function is coming
- Masterwork versions of exotic weapons will be introduced to the game
- Seasonal progress with vendors will be introduced
- Massive sandbox adjustments for exotic weapons
- Modifiers for heroic strikes
- Nightfall challenge cards
Additionally, the “Warmind” DLC for Destiny 2 will be released on May 8.
The sandbox changes originally planned for May for exotic armor pieces have been postponed to the upcoming summer.
The following is planned for summer 2018 in Destiny 2
- A new seasonal event is on the way
- Improved group matches are returning
- Vendor missions will be introduced
- Guardians on PC will receive a clan chat feature
- Sandbox changes for exotic armor pieces will be delivered
This is what Guardians can expect in September 2018
September will see the start of Season 4 in Destiny 2. Bungie’s goal is to give players more control over their loadout arrangement, as well as more reasons to play the game long-term. The studio also wants to bring back the exciting moments when players obtain the perfect weapon. To achieve this, the following features will be introduced in September:
- Gear collections
- Records
- Changes to weapon slots
- Random rolls for weapons
Plans for changes to the prestige raid (including raid encounters) are now in place. These will be incorporated into the next development preview.
Mod changes will also be integrated into the new plan for random rolls on weapons.
According to Bungie, there are more features to be unveiled. However, they cannot be discussed at this time. They will be detailed in future dev comments. At the moment, Bungie’s focus is clearly on delivering on promises to make Destiny 2 the hobby that everyone loves again.
