Since building in Fortnite has been disabled, there are now overshields in Season 2. We will show you how they work.
Why are there shields? At the start of Season 2 in Chapter 3, Fortnite has disabled building. You currently cannot build huge structures to shield yourself from enemy fire. Instead, you will rely on your shields and health points.
For better defense, the developers have provided you with overshields. We will show you how they work so that you can make the most of them.
All information about the overshields
What’s new: Since you can’t build, you now have enhanced sprints and can climb and dash along various surfaces like in parkour. With the new overshields, you have more time before an opponent can take you down. You can see how the new actions look in the Season 2 story trailer.
This is how it works: The overshield is the first thing an opponent hits you with. Only after the overshield is completely depleted can your regular shield and health points be taken away.
The overshield points regenerate on their own over time. Even if they fall to 0, they will gradually build back up on their own after that.
The overshield has a maximum of 50 points, which recharge outside of combat.
How long does the shield last? It is to be expected that the overshield will remain in the game for as long as building is disabled. Data miners have already dug through the code and found out how long building remains disabled in Fortnite.
Presumably, the shield will then be disabled again or will remain in the game for certain modes. How do you like playing with the overshield? Do you feel good about it and feel relatively safe without the building function?
