In Destiny 2, there are constantly new weapons and perks that change the game’s meta. Currently, a combination is particularly popular and is regarded by many Guardians as the hottest in the current Season 20. MeinMMO presents the new super killer and reveals where you can get it.
Which weapon is currently highly sought after? Currently, the new submachine gun “The Immortal” with the damage type “Strand” is probably the hottest piece in all of Destiny 2. It is like the new “carrot” in front of the Guardians’ noses.
Especially with the right perk combo, it becomes an absolute beast, combining speed and dominance, primarily in PvP.
- In the first Trials weekend of Season 20, during which “The Immortal” came into play for the first time, there were already almost 10 million kills (9.5% via trialsreport) attributed solely to it.
- Shortly thereafter, players dreaded the noticeable dominance of the weapon in the Iron Banner, as it can kill even Guardians with maximum resilience at breathtaking speed.

Why is “The Immortal” currently so strong in Destiny 2?
The little 750 RPM submachine gun is really tough and has the potential to shift the meta in Destiny 2. For PvP, it is already a must-have, and it also does a good job in PvE.
Many Destiny 2 players even claim that “The Immortal” is ruining PvP right now because it kills so incredibly effectively. So one should ask: Why is “The Immortal” actually so outstanding?
Here lies the major advantage: When looking at the weapon’s perks, it becomes clear quickly that in its god roll, it surpasses any submachine gun Destiny 2 has ever had. Essentially, the Holy Grail among submachine guns for anyone who desires a lightning-fast rate of fire, high damage output, and stable accuracy.
Especially the perk “Targeting” is what elevates “The Immortal” to these unprecedented heights. You only need a few hits to activate the benefit, around 4-6, and they don’t even have to be precise.
The longer you aim the weapon at your enemy, the higher the damage will be. Thus, the perk currently provides the easiest-to-activate damage bonus in the game. Not just with this submachine gun.
- The perk “Targeting” can stack up to 5x.
- The first stack grants a damage buff of around 17%, and at maximum stacks, the weapon receives a damage buff of 40%.
- If you combine this with perks like “Ricochet Rounds” and “Targeting Adjuster” for more range, almost nothing can stop you.
An outstanding TTK rounds everything off: If all hits from the trials weapon with aggressive frame are precision hits, the SMG boasts an impressive TTK of just 0.56 seconds. The average TTK, however, is more like 0.64 seconds, which is still impressive.
For comparison:
- Adaptive SMGs, like the Iron Banner weapon “The Burden of Heroes” have a TTK of 0.73 seconds.
- Aggressive SMGs, like the “Ikelos_MP_V1.0.2 and V1.0.3” have a TTK of 0.77 seconds.
- Precision SMGs, like “Shayura’s Wrath”, offer a TTK of 0.80 seconds.
Better than its alternative: Among SMGs with aggressive frames, “The Immortal” effortlessly sweeps away its direct Warmind competition in the form of the current Arc SMG “Ikelos_MP_V1.0.3”. It is practically an Ikelos in the kinetic slot with better stats and more advantageous perk options. An Ikelos SMG also cannot roll with “Targeting” and a damage perk. “The Immortal” can.
How effective this is in combat is demonstrated by the Destiny 2 streamer “Fallout Play” in this video. Here it becomes clear that the weapon in its perfect combo can effectively and quickly eliminate other Guardians, regardless of their resilience level, with just 10 hits.
These rolls we recommend for PvP and PvE
If you want to hunt the weapon, the right perks are, of course, important. Here we have listed our tested perk recommendations. The rolls only differ slightly in their optional perks and whether you are playing a Strand build or not.
For PvP we recommend:
- Barrel: Chambered Compensator (Stability +10, Recoil +4, Handling -5)
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds (Range +5, Stability +10)
- Perk Advantage 1:
- “Targeting” – Aiming increases range and zoom magnification.
- Optional: “Perpetual Motion” – The weapon has more stability, better handling, and a faster reload speed while moving.
- Perk Advantage 2:
- “Targeting” – Damage increases the longer this weapon hits its target.
- Optional: “Kill Clip” – Reloading after a kill deals increased damage.
- Masterwork: Stability or Range
- Mod: Backup Magazine
For PvE we recommend:

How to get “The Immortal” in Season 20
In Season 20, the Trials of Osiris brought the SMG to Destiny 2. The PvP mode is currently also the only source where you can obtain “The Immortal.” This weekend, from March 31 to April 4, it is even easier, as Bungie is offering a boost to reputation ranks in Trials.
- You can obtain the weapon via Trials Engrams at the 14th Saint.
- Once you have received “The Immortal,” you can focus all further Trials Engrams directly on the SMG until you get your desired roll of the weapon.
Also available as a master version: However, if you want the master version of the weapon, you will have to wait longer. “The Immortal” will return in Season 20 from May 19 to May 23 as a master version for the Trials of Osiris. You will then need 7 consecutive wins – you must achieve “Flawless” on your Trials Pass.
