Mass Effect
A good science fiction MMORPG would be something special. The Mass Effect series would be very suitable due to its complex backstory and vast universe. Players could be mercenaries, pirates, or bounty hunters as well as smugglers, searching for resources on planets, looting, doing dirty work for corporations, and continuously upgrading their ship and characters. Different factions could lead to PvP skirmishes.
