Games based on franchises known from movies, TV series, single-player games, or books are very popular. Because then you can actively experience adventures in your favorite world and not just watch or read.

Game of Thrones
Actually, a PvP-heavy MMORPG based on the popular TV series and book series Game of Thrones is in development. Bigpoint wants to send you into the battle for the Iron Throne. However, nothing has been heard from the game for ages, and whether it is still being worked on is questionable.
Be that as it may: An MMORPG where you can explore the fantasy world of Westeros and engage in the War of the Five Kings would be something special. If that doesn’t work out, there is currently a more than decent alternative in development.
With Crowfall, an ambitious MMO will be released, which the creators themselves say: “It’s like Game of Thrones meets EVE Online. In terms of setting, it heavily leans on the fantasy epic. Whether Crowfall will be the right MMO for Game of Thrones remains to be seen until at least 2018.
