The Twitch streamers HandOfBlood and Papaplatte discuss why the StreamAwards were mentioned by Tagesschau on Instagram and reflect on the relevance of their presence in society.
The Twitch streamers HandOfBlood and Papaplatte played Elden Ring for seven days in a hardcore co-op challenge. The only exception day was Saturday, February 24, 2024, when the StreamAwards took place, where they were also guests themselves.
In a subsequent stream, they continued their gaming session. During that time, an attentive viewer pointed out that the StreamAwards were also a topic in the Tagesschau. He communicated this information through a donation and commented: “Already seen Tagesschau,” while posting an Instagram link.
What question arose for the streamer? Papaplatte turned to HandOfBlood and asked him why the StreamAwards were discussed in the Tagesschau. HandOfBlood initially replied dryly: “Why not?” Papaplatte then tried to articulate his thoughts, which did not quite succeed.
HandOfBlood then explained that Papaplatte should take a closer look, as the web video award had previously even been mentioned in the Tagesschau. Papaplatte agreed.
The streamer added: “Sometimes we make ourselves smaller than we are.” He pointed out that such Tagesschau postings on Instagram are often accompanied by memes and criticized, but that this also happens with half of the postings.

What does HandOfBlood say about the criticism against Tagesschau? He also explains in his clip that Tagesschau is criticized for not reporting on relevant topics. However, HandOfBlood replies that this is not the case, as can be seen from the StreamerAwards. However, the current topics are often overlooked, as there are also irrelevant postings in between.
“We are part of society and have an enormous reach – so why not briefly mention that there was an award ceremony?” emphasized HandOfBlood. Papaplatte agreed. He noted that he still found it surprising, but that this one post would not interest anyone.

How did the community react? Under the Tagesschau’s posting about the StreamAwards, the reactions were extremely mixed. Even Reved, who organized and led this event, appeared very confused about the post and left only a brief “what” as a comment underneath.
