We at MeinMMO reveal a new card from the upcoming Hearthstone expansion “Split in Alterac Valley”. See what Paladins can look forward to.
Even though Hearthstone just received the new Mercenaries mode and a small mini-set for the last expansion a few weeks ago, the next set is already almost in the starting blocks. With 135 new cards, “Split in Alterac Valley” offers plenty and includes numerous improvements for existing decks and ideas for entirely new archetypes.
This time we also exclusively reveal one of the new cards that you can draw from packs in just a few weeks.
New Paladin Minion: Brasswing
One of the new cards for Paladins in “Split in Alterac Valley” will be “Brasswing”. This is a dragon that will mainly appear late in the game, as it costs a hefty 8 mana and has solid stats of 9 attack and 7 health points. Additionally, it is of epic quality – so it may take a while before you draw it from card packs.
Additionally, there is an effect that activates at the end of each of your turns: Brasswing deals 2 damage to all enemies.
But that’s not all. The effect “Honorable Victory” is also included and heals the owner of Brasswing for 4 health points when activated.
The keyword “Honorable Victory” is new with the expansion “Split in Alterac Valley” and can be found on a whole range of cards. The keyword always comes with a specific effect that is generally positive for the card owner. To activate the effect, the card with “Honorable Victory” must destroy a minion with exact damage.
That means if a minion has 2 health points left, the attacking card must deal exactly 2 damage to trigger the effect of “Honorable Victory”.
How do you best use Brasswing? Although Brasswing is quite expensive at 8 mana, it serves multiple purposes and is fairly versatile. Besides its powerful stats, which make it a real threat on the battlefield, it fulfills even more functions:
- A rather strong area effect that can clear the battlefield.
- An integrated healing ability that restores 4 health points to the Paladin with exact damage every time.
On top of that, Brasswing can also function as an “emergency finisher” when the opposing hero has only 1 or 2 health points left. Because after all, the effect also affects the enemy hero at the end of the turn.
If you play cleverly and prepare the battlefield accordingly – or if you have 7 Treants of a Druid in front of you – you can heal a staggering 28 health points in a single turn with Brasswing and almost completely restore your health.
In most cases, Brasswing will obviously not be able to heal 28 health points. But even a healing of 4, 8, or 12 combined with defeating some minions can turn the game around and thwart the opponent’s lethal “finisher”.
When does the new expansion come out? The new expansion will be released in just a few weeks. On December 7th, the new card set will be launched. Generally, this happens in the early evening hours. By then, all the remaining cards will also be revealed.
What do you think of the card “Brasswing”? A cool addition to many Paladin decks? Or too situational to really be useful?
