Lack of means, from platform to nostalgia
Sometimes you simply can’t blame yourself as a self-aware person and admit: “Yes, I just slacked off.” In fact, the bad luck of some colleagues is simply due to the circumstances that have led to some games having remained denied to them – sometimes even to this day.

Forza Horizon: The series was long exclusive to Xbox, and I never had one, so I got to know the game through Steam with the release of part 5.
Author Linda also realizes that a particularly large and popular franchise will never feel the same as if she had grown up with it:
The entire Pokémon franchise for me. I completely ignored it as a child, so I lack the nostalgia many associate with the series. Now catching up on all the old parts wouldn’t feel quite the same.
And sometimes it also depends on which platform you grew up on. Author Johanna can also confirm this:
I generally think of “playing on PC,” or multiplayer games in that regard. As a child and teenager, I only played single-player games on the DS. The highest I got was sometimes playing with my dad on the PS2 or the Wii, while my little sister yelled at me to take out our dad in Mario Kart.
I simply never had the money to buy a gaming PC and never had a “squad” to play multiplayer games with. Now I’m catching up more or less since I turned 25, and I’m having a lot of fun with it.
So it was more of a financial issue than a matter of desire.
Based on all these reactions, one takeaway you can have is: it’s better to start a game you’ve been eyeing for a while late than to never do it. Whether it’s an online multiplayer with a strong community, a hyped RPG blockbuster that still has many fans, and the switch to console or PC.
