Online Games, whether MOBA or Shooter
Our MeinMMO demon Cortyn feels that she hesitated too long with one game, and that was:
League of Legends. I always wanted to play it, but I missed the entry, and at some point, it was so overwhelmingly large that I thought: No, that train has simply left.
Community Manager Mary is upset that she can’t find the time for a shooter, namely:
Warframe. Everything I hear from friends and colleagues sounds fantastic! Especially the close bond between developers and the community, as well as the story. But jumping into the game now feels like jumping onto a moving train.
In the first hours, I’m overwhelmed with menus and events and who knows what else that I just don’t know which way is up or down. Moreover, I have so many time-consuming games like WoW, FF14, and JRPGs piled up that I don’t know if I’ll ever have space for Warframe.
Already the second train metaphor, well.
Our video producer Anna would have much preferred to experience the launch of a shooter more closely, but fortunately, she is now fully involved:
Don’t shoot! Hello Raider! ARC Raiders is the game I bitterly regret not being there from the beginning. When I started it at release, I mainly played it for work, kept dying in PvP, was totally overwhelmed, and was generally quite averse to Extraction shooters.
Don’t get me wrong: I love shooters. But it just wasn’t worth it to me to loot for 30 minutes only to die and lose everything. I have far too little time for gaming. The game quickly flew off my hard drive.
But then, while I was comfortably watching shorts on YouTube during my New Year’s vacation, more and more ARC Raiders was recommended to me. “Funny Moments”, “Funny Proxy-Chat”, and especially the PvE interactions between players enchanted me so much that I decided in January to give the game another chance. AND OMG, I don’t know how, but today, almost 2 months later, I have 200 hours.
I am ready for the expedition, have all raider decks ready, have scoured all events, and on the leaderboard for the weekly trials, I rank under “Talent,” so the second to last rank. I’ve met so many great people and had unbelievably many funny and dramatic stories.
I am angry with myself for missing the start, for not sticking with it, for not being there when this PvE raider community formed. But I am glad ARC Raiders was shoved in front of me on YouTube.
