Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout on PC and PS4 together in one lobby? What actually doesn’t work specifically, you can influence with a trick. We at MeinMMO play reliably together on PlayStation and Steam.
The goal: The MeinMMO editorial team wants to play together spontaneously and decides on the title Fall Guys. Mini-games in the style of Takeshi’s Castle are just right for having fun together.
The problem: We are playing distributed on PC (Steam) and PS4/PS5 Fall Guys. Crossplay works there, although only to a limited extent. Currently, you can’t create a cross-platform lobby, but you can set it so that you accept opponents from other platforms in your games. However, we found out how to play together anyway.
How to play Fall Guys together now in Crossplay on PS4/PS5 and Steam
If you, like us, want to play Fall Guys together with friends on other platforms, you will need:
- Fall Guys as a game (all participants)
- Headsets (all participants)
- A bit of patience
How it works: Gather in a voice program like Discord as a group call together. Start all your “Fall Guys” app on the console or the game via Steam. Then wait in the main menu until everyone is ready to play. Agree on who will start the countdown.
- The countdown timer counts down equally from three (you agree beforehand whether you start at “zero” or “go” or some other command after one)
- At the command, all participants press “Play” at the same time – Please note that you should all have selected the same game mode
- As soon as a player sees how many people are participating in the match, the other players must confirm. For example, “54 in the lobby, 20 seconds wait time”
- If the number of players matches the other participants in your group and the remaining wait time is similar (wait time may vary due to internet lag), then you stay in the queue
- If the participant numbers do not match or the remaining wait time differs significantly from other players in the call, then you leave the lobby and restart from point 1 with the countdown
- If everything fits together, you will likely find yourselves in the same game again
We tested it: We at MeinMMO tried this out on August 19 for you. Together we were able to play in the following configuration: Maik Schneider (PS4/PS5), Sven Galitzki (PS5), Patrick Freese (PC, Steam). In 7 out of 10 attempts, the countdown trick worked, and we ended up in the same game.
Tip: It is important that you do not play during Fall Guys’ peak time. Between 4 PM and 5 PM is the prime time for Fall Guys, as most players play simultaneously. This can be easily read from the graph on Steamcharts (via Steamcharts.com). More players mean more lobbies, and the likelihood of getting into different lobbies increases.
During our attempt, we played from 9:00 PM and had no trouble getting into a group together.
