The subscription for PlayStation Plus is being fundamentally revamped. The launch date for Germany is now known and is set to take place in June 2022. We will show you the details of the new subscription.
When does the new PS Plus start? In a blog update, Sony has now announced the specific launch date. On June 22, 2022, the new PS Plus is set to launch. So at least that’s the plan so far. Sony CEO Jim Ryan states in the blog post (via PlayStation.com) that they are making “fantastic progress” with the launch preparations and therefore will bring the offering a bit earlier to selected markets in Asia and then Japan.
It’s quite possible that the launch date gets moved forward.

When and where does it start? Europe is currently the last region on the schedule to receive the new subscription. Players in other parts of the world can therefore get in earlier.
- Asian markets (excluding Japan): Scheduled for May 23, 2022
- Japan: Scheduled for June 1, 2022
- North, Central and South America: Scheduled for June 13, 2022
- Europe: Scheduled for June 22
The blog post also states that they thank the community for their support and further information will follow as they approach the release.
Which games are included? The games that the new PS Plus will launch with have not yet been revealed. This is likely one of the pieces of information that will follow as they approach the release. Already in the announcement, the team stated that with the premium model of the subscription for €17 per month, over 740 games can be downloaded or streamed. The cheaper package for €14 per month then includes only 400 games to stream or download.
What happens with PS Plus in May? While the official candidates for the upcoming game rotation have not yet been confirmed, there are already some speculations and rumors about PS Plus in May 2022.
