This month, the big Raikou Day of Pokémon GO is starting. Niantic confirmed this on Twitter, and the event will take place at the very end of June 2019.
When does the day take place? The Raikou Day is on June 29. It starts at 4 PM local time. Raikou should be available everywhere for 3 hours, until 7 PM.
The Raikou Day is the reward for all trainers after completing all global challenges at the end of the GO Fest.
Raikou Day in Pokémon GO – What you need to know
How does the event work? During Raikou Day, a legendary raid featuring Raikou will appear at all gyms that are not hosting EX-raids. You can battle it for 3 hours everywhere and hopefully encounter a Shiny Raikou.
What can be said about the date? June 29 is a Saturday. Many players are likely to have time since the event starts surprisingly at 4 PM. You have time until the evening to battle Raikou.
How many people do I need for Raikou? The legendary Electric-type Pokémon can be defeated with just two players, but many factors must align for that. You will perform better with a team of 3 to 4 players.
What do I need against Raikou? All Ground-type Pokémon are effective against Raikou. The best counters are Groudon and Garchomp. We will publish a detailed list on MeinMMO shortly.
What other preparations can I make? Definitely save up some potions. You will likely lose some revives and potions while battling through numerous raids.
Otherwise, you should check if you can level up a Groudon or Garchomp.
