In a newsletter, Pokémon GO has now scheduled the upcoming Ground Event. It will take place at the end of April and will last for four days.
These are the dates: In its newsletter, Niantic provided a start date for the Ground Event in Pokémon GO. The event will start on April 29 and will run until May 2.
What is the Ground Event? This event is directly related to Earth Day. In order to receive bonuses for this event, you must collect trash with your community and clean up the world. If enough players sign up, bonuses will be unlocked.

What has been announced so far? Niantic had already set a period for the event from April 13 to April 28. However, it appears that these dates only apply to players who clean up with their community.
During this period, enough volunteer players must sign up so that bonuses for Pokémon GO can be unlocked on April 29. The event period was only announced now.

How to get the bonuses: To unlock the bonuses, you have to do something. New Shinies or the return of Groudon will only be unlocked if up to 7,000 players participate in the clean-up event.
- 2,000 players or more participate
- Reward: Ground Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild
- 5,000 players or more participate
- Reward: Shiny Diglett will be available for the first time in the wild
- 7,000 players or more participate
- Reward: Groudon as a Raid Boss in gyms + double Stardust and candies for all event spawns
What do the event times mean? The Ground Event will not last very long. There will only be 4 days in which you will find Groudon, Diglett, and more frequently.
Niantic confirmed: In a tweet on April 5, Niantic Support reiterated that Groudon will return to raids if 7,000 players or more help clean up.
How can I participate? If you want to support Niantic’s clean-up event, you need to register on the developer’s website and indicate how many people from your community will participate.
If you want to take advantage of an event right now, you should go out for the Bug Event:
