In Fortnite, tomorrow, on Wednesday, August 5th, a new update will be rolled out on all platforms. As a teaser, Epic shows a new vehicle. Finally, the drivable cars are set to come to Fortnite, something players have been waiting for.

This has been announced: Epic Games announced the next update of Fortnite on Twitter. The “Fortnite Joy Ride” patch is set to be rolled out on Wednesday, August 5th.
As a hint, Epic shows a new car, which is likely named Whiplash; this term refers to a whip crack or a whiplash injury in English:
The name of the vehicle is also meant to serve as a warning, though this is not explained further. Could it become the fastest vehicle on the map? The sporty vehicle was already seen in the Battle Pass trailer of Season 3.
Will the update finally bring the cars?
So far, all signs point to Epic rolling out the new vehicles with the update, even if they haven’t explicitly said so. The chances are quite high that the cars will finally arrive, after players waited several weeks for them.
Even on the Fortnite map, some preparations have been made for the cars to finally start. The gas stations in the game were overhauled with update 13.30 and have now received an upgrade. It is already suspected that players will actually need to refuel the cars to use them.
What else could the update bring?
So far, there is only the hint about the new vehicles, which are likely to be the main theme of the new patch. What else the update could bring has not been disclosed by Epic.
Players can expect a few bug fixes, as there are already some bugs on the Fortnite Trello that are set to be fixed with the next update, such as:
- Slow gliding when trying to glide again in a match
- XP bar has a visual bug and does not display the count correctly
- Ocean’s drinking cup cannot be picked up when it is in charging status and has been dropped by another player
If all these things are included in the update, it could be quite a large patch with some new content. We will have to eagerly wait to see what Epic has planned. After all, cars are already the highlight of Season 3, even though they cannot be driven yet.
