In Destiny 2, a confrontation with the Darkness is imminent. MeinMMO looks at our powerful allies who could assist us.
What lies ahead in Destiny 2: The arch-nemesis of the Guardians, the Darkness, is basically at our doorstep. This arrival has been prepared over nearly 6 years, 2 games, and multiple DLCs and seasons.
Much is still unknown about the enemy. However, if the leaks are to be believed, the Darkness is the most destructive foe we have faced so far. To have a chance against this adversary, we will certainly need the help of our most important allies.
Our Guardian has been through a lot since the release of Destiny 1 in 2014 and silently mastered every impossible task. We are the slayers of cosmic gods and saviors of all that touches the light. But we didn’t achieve this alone.
Over the years, we have gathered a powerful crew that we urgently need against the advancing enemy. We strongly believe that the characters listed here will play an important role in the future events of Destiny 2.
Destiny 2: These are our most important allies
The situation with Eris Morn: The always grumpy witch Eris Morn is a real doomsayer. And there’s a reason for that: she has experienced the Darkness like no other character and is one of the few survivors who managed to escape its dark clutches.
With her knowledge, she actively supports us and guides us through the darkness. Since we handed her an artifact from one of the Pyramid ships after the Shadowkeep campaign, it has been quiet around her. However, a leak shows that Eris has arrived in the next Destiny chapter.
The Wanderer’s intentions: The Wanderer is one of our dubious allies. The troublemaker has a score to settle with the Darkness, as it slaughtered his entire crew, and he has since been intensely dealing with the dark forces – much to the dismay of the orderly Vanguard.
Through his experiments in the Gambit mode, he is likely to become one of our most important weapons in the upcoming fight. Recently, it was revealed that the Wanderer will likely play a major role in the future of Destiny 2:
Zavala is in: Few may doubt that the leader of the Vanguard, Commander Zavala, has a say. The stoic Titan with the strict codex has been with our Guardians since their first steps.
In the events of the current Season 10, we have gained a new, powerful ally thanks to him. Even if some find the moral Titan a bit boring – we can rely on his protection in the coming battle.
Rasputin stands by our side: The Warmind Rasputin is an old A.I. that essentially represents a machine god. He was supposed to guard our solar system but has a peculiar way of interpreting this mission. Few of our allies are as dangerous and controversial – even Rasputin’s son died at the hands of his father.
Thanks to the events in the Season of Worthy, we stand side by side with the Warmind. The finale of our collaboration is approaching and it could be explosive.
What about Osiris? The time-traveling Warlock Osiris went into exile a long time ago, because his views and plans were deemed too dangerous. He is one of the most powerful Guardians and has his fingers in nearly every pie in the game. And he does not shy away from confronting the feared Rasputin. He was the one who urged the Warmind to take a side.
Three months ago, he left the Guardians again. Osiris snatched an important artifact from the Darkness. According to lore experts, this item is likely one of our most powerful weapons, if not our only chance against the Darkness, and will play an important role in the upcoming story.
Finally, Saint-14 is back: Saint-14 is often described with the words “the greatest Titan who ever lived”. The rugged hero of yesteryear was believed to be long dead but was brought back to our world with our help (and of course through Osiris).
It is beyond question that Saint-14 will be a valuable ally. He is likely the only Guardian who has amassed more Vex kills than we have. Currently, he is overseeing the Trials for Osiris – as no one else trusts the grumpy Warlock with this dangerous task.
Ana Bray is becoming increasingly important: When Ana entered the game in the Warmind expansion, no one could have guessed what role she would play. From sidekick, she has turned into an important NPC with an interesting backstory: Her family is behind such important events as SIVA and developed the Engrams (yes, our loot source).
Rumor has it that she is also connected to another important cult character alongside Rasputin: the Exo-Stranger.
Therefore, Ikora should not be forgotten: Ikora Rey usually behaves calmly and does not focus prominently – unless she is not putting the entire Tower in danger with Vex technology.
However, it should not be forgotten that the Warlock lady was Osiris’s student and is the only Guardian that the legendary Lord Shaxx fears. And with good reason: she has been seen pulverizing ships with one hand.
Each of the characters mentioned here is likely to play an important role in the coming months and the future of Destiny 2. A thank you goes to Lord Shaxx too. The roaring coach keeps the team fit and motivated:
Old enemies, new allies, and a mysterious queen
Who else could play a role? We can rely on the support of the characters mentioned above. Additionally, three other iconic Destiny figures could play a role in the confrontation with the Darkness:
- Emperor Calus: The extravagant ruler of the Cabal Empire has already “encountered” the Guardians as a raid boss and tested our strength multiple times. However, we have never faced him personally. As he has a backstory with the Darkness himself, he will likely have a say. Which side he chooses is still uncertain.
- Prince Uldren: The murderer of Cayde-6 has earned his place among the truly evil. After we took our revenge on him, he was brought back to the game as a memory-less Guardian. Since then, Uldren has been observing events from afar. Many believe he might become one of our allies, possibly even succeeding Cayde as one of the Vanguard commanders.
- Mara Sov: The queen of the Awoken (and Uldren’s sister) is one of the few who knew early about the arrival of the Darkness. She has been preparing for it for a long time, but reveals little about her plans.
