What expansions are there so far? The base game Guild Wars 2 was released in August 2012. Since then, the publisher has provided four expansions and announced a fifth for 2024.
Here are the key points of all playable expansions so far summarized:
In 2015, Heart of Thorns launched. In it, you are taken to the western jungle – the Heart of Maguuma
. You could build and strengthen outposts and tackle jumping puzzles. For all classes available at launch, elite specializations and the Revenant as a playable class were introduced.
Two years later came Path of Fire, the second expansion. The focus here was on the new region Crystal Desert. In addition, bounties and other new elite specializations were introduced. You could also look forward to five mounts, which were introduced for the first time.
