Bethesda has positive news for all fans of the survival MMO Fallout 76. The game is still popular 5 years after its release. In 2024, there will be many new contents, but the development team will shift its focus a bit.
How popular is Fallout 76? Bethesda is pleased that the MMO has surpassed 17 million players. This likely refers to the accounts created since the release in 2018. In June 2023, there were still 15 million players.
But the game is not just a success over its runtime: Currently, Fallout 76 ranks 8th among the most played MMORPGs on Steam. In the past 24 hours, the peak number of players was 11,266. Moreover, the title is available for PS4 and Xbox One, so the actual number of players will be higher.
The high player numbers ensure that Bethesda is still actively working on Fallout 76. For the upcoming year, the development team has announced new content that the player community can look forward to.

These contents are coming to Fallout 76 in 2024
What new content do the developers promise? At the end of the year, Fallout 76 received an update called “Road to Atlantic City” that includes a casino. In the coming year, the following content is expected:
- In spring 2024, the second part of the Atlantic City update is to follow. In “America’s Playground,” players will encounter Jersey Devil and receive new quests, areas, and rewards.
- Later in 2024, a new large area in the south of the map will be unlocked. The area leads players into the wooded Shenandoah. Here, there will be new quests, factions, and rewards.
- The team aims to focus more on seasonal events in 2024. There will be even more seasonal events with fresh rewards. Bethesda plans to introduce completely new seasonal events that have never been seen before.
Furthermore, the usual features and improvements are on the way, which are primarily intended to benefit the “passionate builders and adventurers.” Bethesda has proven multiple times in the past that it listens to the players’ feedback: Now, for example, there are real NPCs.
What else is coming for the Fallout IP? Fans of Fallout can look forward not only to the upcoming content in 2024, but also to a new series. This is a live-action adaptation that will be available on Amazon Prime from April 12, 2024.
The series places us in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles in the year 2077. There will be a new story that will, however, include well-known elements from the series. These include the vaults, mutated monsters, and powerful power armors.
