The release of the huge Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 has been postponed. Like many game studios, Bethesda is currently suffering from the effects of the coronavirus crisis. Fortunately, fans probably do not have to wait much longer and show understanding.
When is Wastelanders coming out now? According to the latest information, the Wastelanders update is now set to release on April 14. That is a week later than originally planned. Previously, the update was already postponed to April 7.
Why the delay? The developers cite the current issues surrounding the coronavirus as the reason. This forces many employees to work from home, just as with other game companies, thus delaying development.
In a tweet from the official Twitter channel, it is stated that due to the circumstances, not as much testing could be done as the developers would have liked:

For some time now, selected players have been able to test Wastelanders on the new test server. Bethesda thanks them once again for that.
Wastelanders saves Fallout 76
Why Wastelanders is so important: Fallout 76 had a rough launch and several issues since its release in November 2018. Many fans of the Fallout series did not see what they wanted in the new installment and have bombarded the game with negative reviews.
A major criticism was the lack of NPCs with whom players could talk and interact. In Fallout 76, all NPCs are already dead when you start the game. Only holotapes and robots remain.
With Wastelanders, NPCs return and with them, the entire story of the game changes. Appalachia becomes populated again, the world livelier, and players must interact with people again, make decisions, and gain reputation with the new factions.
What do fans say about it? After Bethesda has faced numerous shitstorms, also due to delays and issues, the first reactions to the new situation are understanding.
Twitter user Tristan Hicks writes: “Hopefully you won’t receive any hate for this. That’s currently bigger than games.” Other users agree that it is more important to be safe right now and that this is the right decision.
Even if some fans seem to have been happy and are upset that they have to wait longer, they show understanding. User StrawHat Samurai writes: “Take your time, this is literally the test for your comeback. No rush, stay safe.”
The coronavirus is currently causing problems in many areas. The fight against the virus and the corresponding disease COVID-19 is currently gripping the whole world, and numerous gaming companies and gamers want to help tackle the crisis:
