Real Ranged Combat in Dauntless
Why is the ranged weapon so interesting? Until now, there has been no dedicated ranged weapon in Dauntless. While some weapons like the Hammer and the War Pike have a type of ranged attack, they are primarily melee weapons.
The Ostian Repeater thus represents the first pure ranged weapon, allowing players to focus on this style of attack. With the previous focus on melee combat, this constitutes a significant change to Dauntless that is likely to make encounters with the Behemoths more exciting and varied.
What can the Repeater do? The Ostian Repeater is a pistol, which also means that with the introduction of this weapon, Dauntless is moving slightly away from the classic fantasy scenario.

A Versatile Weapon
That’s why you should also get close to enemies with the Repeater: While you can attack the Behemoths from a safe distance with the Repeater – as long as the monsters are not using ranged attacks themselves – it is also worthwhile to get closer.

- If you charge the weapon near a Behemoth, you gather some of the creature’s aether for a particularly powerful shot
When is the gun coming and how are fans reacting? The Repeater will be introduced with an update on October 3rd into the Dauntless, which successfully launched into open beta on May 24th, and players are very excited. For the first time, there is a real ranged weapon. Fans of Dauntless are eager to see how this will affect the battles and how the gameplay mechanics will change as a result.
