Warlocks receive new pets in World of Warcraft: The War Within. If they want, they can even subjugate entire raid bosses.
Warlocks in World of Warcraft are already a strange bunch. They wield forbidden demonic magics and have all sorts of creepy companions that one would rather keep at a distance. But with the new expansion “The War Within”, they are enhancing their repertoire of abilities once again – because they are capable of summoning entire raid bosses and imposing their will upon them.
What are these summons? The new summons are a new talent point for Demonology Warlocks. They receive a new “Capstone” talent, which is a talent at the bottom of the tree. Here, you can choose between two different talents (“Choice Node”):
- Mark of Shatug
- Mark of F’harg
The choice here modifies the existing spell “Summon Dark Horror”. Depending on which talent you choose, your horror will change and gain a new ability.
F’harg constantly emits fire around him, dealing AoE damage to all nearby enemies.
Shatug inflicts his target with an additional, strong damage-over-time effect, making him suitable for single targets.
Where do the bosses come from? The two dogs should be familiar to veterans from the expansion Legion. There, they were among the first bosses of the raid “Antorus, the Burning Throne”.
The two demons were Sargeras’ lapdogs and were imbued with the essence of fire and the essence of shadow to serve him even better – while devouring all foes of the Legion. At least until we kill the dogs.
Currently, Shatug and F’harg are also really, really large in the Alpha of The War Within – almost as large as the raid bosses back in Antorus. However, since this would probably cause display issues, one can assume that the two dogs will be shrunk over the next week.
