Warhammer Online was officially discontinued years ago. However, fans of the dark fantasy world will soon get a new opportunity to experience more adventures with Warhammer Odyssey. The mobile online RPG has now showcased itself in gameplay videos.
What is Warhammer Odyssey? Although the game is released for Android and iOS smartphones, it is a classic MMORPG. You create a hero, take on quests, and set out to fight monsters, loot treasures, and improve your character.

- You explore familiar locations from the Warhammer universe such as the city of Marienburg or the Drakwald Forest

What does the game look like? There are now first videos to see from the recently concluded closed beta. Warhammer Odyssey has the impression of a classic MMORPG, but some compromises need to be made regarding graphics. Especially concerning lighting and shadows as well as the level of detail of the textures.
For a mobile game, it still looks pretty good. You see how you receive quests from NPCs, learn more about the story, and then fight against monsters. Additionally, you see how you customize your hero, how trading with NPCs works, and how you travel between the zones of the game world.
How does it play? Essentially, the gameplay of Warhammer Odyssey resembles MMORPGs like Neverwinter. You accept quests that take you to areas where enemies are waiting for you. There, you fight your way to the goal, whether it’s treasure or a boss enemy, to complete the mission.
The game is heavily focused on the story and guides you fairly linearly through the narrative.
What stands out in the videos is that it plays somewhat slower than, for example, Neverwinter. The character moves slower, and the attacks are not executed as quickly. Whether this will change before the release is currently unclear.
Does Warhammer Odyssey have autoplay? No. The mobile MMORPG does without this feature. The developers want to align with PC MMORPGs and provide players with a classic gameplay experience – just on a smartphone.
Who is the game aimed at? Warhammer Odyssey is intended for those who want to experience an MMORPG gaming experience on mobile without sacrificing the classic gameplay without autoplay.
However, those expecting a modern, graphically advanced online role-playing game on PC will not find it here.
When does the game launch? The release of Warhammer Odyssey is planned for the end of January 2021. Before that, there will be an open beta, which will gradually be opened for more regions. When this begins is currently not clear.
