Since its release, the new action RPG Warhammer: Chaosbane has been receiving increasingly poor reviews on Steam. Many fans actually wish for just such a game. MeinMMO takes a look at the voices of the community.
Here’s the situation with Chaosbane: For several days now, the ratings of Warhammer: Chaosbane on Steam have been declining. After its early release for pre-order customers of the more expensive Digital Deluxe or Magnus Editions on May 30, 2019, it’s been downhill.
Currently, only 51% of all reviews on Steam are positive (as of June 3 at 1:00 PM). This is a significant loss, especially since the first impressions of the game and initial reviews were quite positive.
Chaosbane started with 72% positive ratings, which shortly dropped to 65%, but at least stayed there for about two days. Now the situation has worsened for the game.
What bothers the players?
This is what’s being criticized: One of the biggest points of criticism is the lack of content in Chaosbane. Especially players who have either the second beta or simply have played for several hours find little variety and nothing more to do.
There is simply too little content for the proud price of at least €50. User cOrefreAk complains on Steam:
After 13 hours I have seen everything this game has to offer. I have also seen every single armor set of the Slayer (which are just three sets with boring bonuses). No off-set items? Just three sets and that’s it? Finding the same set parts over and over again. Offering so little in a loot-driven ARPG is simply insulting and lazy.
Many bugs and missing features like crafting annoy fans. Overall, the price seems to disturb many people. They actually enjoy Chaosbane, but for so much money, they simply expect more than Chaosbane can offer.
What could be improved? Due to the criticism, there are already calls for content updates. Players want more content for their money and preferably soon.
They see potential in Chaosbane, but only if it can deliver something that lives up to the promise of a new ARPG.
This is why fans want to love Chaosbane
The fascination with Chaosbane and the hope placed in it stem from a desire among Warhammer fans for a good hack & slash in the Warhammer universe.
Chaosbane could have become that game, and in many aspects, the game is praised for its graphics, the varied monsters, and its great gameplay. The battles are fun, skills are said to be unique and interesting. It’s just simply too little.
