Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has 22 weapons that you can use to slash down the hordes of Tyranids. We ranked all the weapons in a tier list.
How is our tier list structured? To deliver the best possible results, we looked at other tier lists, gathered opinions, and played ourselves. We also provide a short justification behind each weapon name, explaining why we ranked it where it is.
In total, there are 22 weapons that we have rated and included in the list. The weapons were evaluated based on ammunition capacity, firepower, and utility. S-tier represents the highest rank while C-tier represents the lowest.
We did not include heavy weapons in this list. You will receive them during the campaign when you need them in the section. We recommend using them then; however, you won’t gain an advantage if you carry them beyond that.
You can jump to the rank that interests you the most using the table of contents.
S-Tier: The Best Weapons
- Chain Sword: The moveset of the chain sword is perfect for fighting your way out of a tight spot with large enemy crowds. After a slash with the sword, you can execute a shoulder charge, kick, or stomp that causes enemies to stagger backward, making them vulnerable to another strike.
- Plasma Pistol: The plasma pistol has the advantage that you don’t need to reload it and can always shoot with it. However, you should be careful not to overheat it if you fire too often in succession.
- Heavy Bolt Pistol: The heavy bolt pistol does not deal as much damage as a fully charged shot from the plasma pistol, but it still packs a punch. Its rate of fire leaves much to be desired, but it impresses with its reload speed.
- Bolt Rifle: The bolt rifle is a standard weapon, but it holds its own against the other weapons. It is accurate, has average ammunition capacity, and deals the highest damage compared to other rifles (except for the stalker bolt rifle).
The Fencing Variant (Melee Weapons)
What is Fencing? Fencing is a variant in the defensive style that can occur as a property on melee weapons. It is especially noteworthy as it can provide you with a huge advantage in combat.
Fencing allows you a larger window of time for perfectly parrying enemy attacks. This increases the chance for perfect parries and subsequent executions. In the game, parrying is very valuable and can quickly dispatch hordes of enemies.
To unlock fencing, you must level up the melee weapon in the armory. It is one of the different types of defense aside from balanced and block. Parrying can save your life – even against a superior force.
A-Tier: Good Weapons
- Energy Hammer: You should avoid parrying with this hammer as it is very slow. However, if it hits, it deals a good amount of damage, making it most effective against large enemy hordes.
- Storm Bolt Rifle: If you like the bolt rifle and want a slightly higher rate of fire, you will feel comfortable with the storm bolt rifle. However, it has slightly less range and firepower.
- Combat Knife: The combat knife is the fastest melee weapon. It is perfect against Tyranid warriors or specific enemies. To combat groups of smaller foes, you can strike in a wide arc with the knife.
- Inceptor Bolt Carbine: This weapon is the perfect combination of ranged combat and high fire rate. It also boasts impressive precision thanks to the scope.
- Energy Sword: With the energy sword, you can adopt two stances: one to deal damage and one to break through the opponent’s defense. This way, you can use the energy sword against hordes or bosses.
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: The bolt rifle with a bit more range. This rifle may not have much ammunition, but thanks to its scope, it can be very effective against distant enemies and specific foes.
- Bolt Pistol: The ammunition damage balance of the bolt pistol is balanced and works great for delivering the final blow to enemies that are just out of reach of your melee weapon.
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: The strongest argument for the heavy bolt rifle is its large magazine, which can be perfect for shooting into large crowds of enemies. It has a slightly better rate of fire and penetration than the bolt rifle.
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: The marksman bolt carbine impresses mainly with its versatility. The precision of this weapon is extremely high thanks to the scope. The carbine delivers a steady and fast rate of fire. Even though it has only a slow rate of fire, you can deal considerable damage with it.
B-Tier: Weapons for Special Situations
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: This sniper rifle has enormous firepower, but very little ammunition. It is quite useful for a defense mission or boss battles, but for other enemies you will need a different weapon.
- Energy Fist: The energy fist has powerful strikes, but they are often not far-reaching against large numbers of enemies. Additionally, you must charge the blows before they deal substantial damage; a time during which you are vulnerable.
C-Tier: Niche Weapons
- Melter Rifle: At close range, the melter rifle deals a lot of damage. However, at longer distances, it has very little utility and takes a long time to reload.
- Plasma Burna: The plasma burna is a powerful weapon. Shots become stronger the longer you charge them. The problem is that if you fire a fully charged shot every time, you only have a total of 13 shots. Once you run out, you’ll be left weaponless.
- Bolt Carbine: This carbine has a high rate of fire but at the cost of accuracy. The damage dealt by the bolt carbine is unfortunately not high enough to overlook its lack of accuracy.
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: The Occulus bolt carbine has the same problem as the bolt carbine: accuracy. It deals more damage compared to its predecessor, has a slightly lower rate of fire but retains the discussed issue of its predecessor.
What else is there to consider? This tier list is only a reference that you can use as a comparison if you are unsure about the weapon selection. You can also mow down enemies with weapons that are ranked lower in our list.
