In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the Bulwark is one of the strongest classes in PvE. Here we show you a build that will help you master even the hardest difficulty levels in the PvE missions.
The Bulwark, or Defender, stands out in Space Marine 2 due to its excellent survivability. It excels as a tank and survives even in precarious situations with its healing chapter banner.
Moreover, the Defender is really good at smashing Tyranids on the front lines. Here we show you a build that takes advantage of this strength and allows you to secure an area against insects with sword and shield.

What Makes the Build So Good? To play the Defender effectively, you should use its survivability and compensate for the weakness of the missing primary weapon as effectively as possible. This means you want to control an area and eliminate as many small Tyranids as possible.
The Energy Sword in the Emperor’s Blade version is the perfect choice for this because it offers a good mix of range, strength, and speed. Your goal is to hit as many enemies as possible with a sword swing.
You combine this with various perks that shock affected enemies. There’s also a perk that causes shocked enemies to take 25% more damage from all sources – including from the firearms of your teammates. Additionally, your chapter banner deals damage in its vicinity when you set it up.
Furthermore, you can stagger (stun) enemies with your shield dash, which can be combined very well with the shock effects, for example after a perfect parry. If you perform the shield attack in the right rhythm, you can stun an enemy, then deal damage, and then stun again.
The Defender is generally considered a strong choice for PvE missions, so you should create at least one strong build. If you want to know how the Defender ranks on our tier list, check out: Space Marine 2: Tier List of the Best Classes – These are the strongest fighters in PvE
